Vote Description
This amendment to SB 52 makes various changes to the bill that promote parental rights in education. For example, it requires that parents be notified when educators plan to teach children about gender identity. It also requires that parents give their permission before a teacher can use the pronouns of a student that are not harmonious with their actual sex. Additionally, it increases parental access to student records. CPAC supports parental rights in education and supported this bill. The Senate defeated this amendment on May 11, 2023 by a vote of 17-2.
