This bill makes employees who have been striking for more than 2 weeks eligible to receive unemployment benefits. CPAC believes that unemployment benefits should only be given to people who are actually unemployed. CPAC also believes that this system incentivizes workers to strike and therefore opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on September 14, 2023 by a vote of 27-12 but Governor Newsom vetoed the bill.
