This bill establishes a Nursing and Mental Health Care Professionals Loan Subsidies Program, the likes of which will provide funds to practicing medical professionals to help them cover the costs of their student loans. CPAC believes that taxpayers should not be forced to pay off other people’s college debts and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 5, 2023 by a vote of 34-1 and the bill later became law.
