SB 254
Throwing More Money at “Food Deserts”
2024 - Delaware Senate
Vote Description

This bill creates the First State Food System Program, the likes of which will fund nonprofits and specialty grocers to increase access to food resources in places at risk of becoming “food deserts.” CPAC opposes the expansion of the welfare state, recognizes that previous attempts to fix “food deserts” with floods of cash have failed, and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 11, 2024 by a vote of 20-0 and the bill was signed into law.
