HB 1223
Government Largesse for Hawaii’s Teachers.
2023 - Hawaii House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill establishes a forgivable loan program for teachers in the state of Hawaii. This means that teachers may receive loans from the state that can be forgiven after they have served as a teacher for the state’s public education system for five years. CPAC does not believe that taxpayers should be forced to fund other people’s higher education expenses and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on March 2, 2023 by a vote of 51-0 but the bill did not pass through the Senate.
