HB 2297
Preparing the State to Favor LGBT+ Applicants Over Regular People.
2023 - Illinois House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill states that the government must now begin collecting data on the number of gender non-conforming people employed by the state in order to “...help guide efforts to achieve a more diversified State work force.” CPAC recognizes that this data will be used to discriminate against non-LGBT+ people, believes that the government should hire individuals based on their merits and not their “gender identity,” and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on May 18, 2023 by a vote of 73-39 and the bill later became law.
