HB 86
Recreation and Park Commission (BREC) Reorganization
2025 - Louisiana House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill restructures the governing board of BREC by increasing the number of office-based members from three to five and reducing the number of appointed members from six to four, thereby reducing local authority. CPAC opposes this bill because it increases state authority by undermining local governance and injects politics into local recreation management. The house passed the bill on May 7, 2025 by a vote of 89-6, and it later became law.
