Vote Description
This bill prohibits schools from moving a student to the fourth from the third grade if it so be that the student demonstrates continual reading deficiencies. CPAC opposes “social promotion” in schools, supports efforts to ensure that students actually learn how to read in school, and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 5, 2023 by a vote of 28-11 and the bill later became law.
