This bill prohibits election officials from accepting private donations to help them cover the costs of administering elections. It also enacts various measures that shore up the security of mail-in ballots and the vote tabulation process. CPAC supports efforts to promote election integrity and supported this bill. The Senate overrode Governor Cooper's veto of this bill on October 10, 2023 by a vote of 30-19 and the bill later became law.
