HB 403
Expanding New Mexico’s Loan Forgiveness Program.
2023 - New Mexico House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill requires public institutions of higher education to calculate a professor or instructor’s full-time status for the purposes of the loan forgiveness program by multiplying their credit or student contact hours by at least 4.35. CPAC opposes the expansion of loan forgiveness programs, does not believe that taxpayers should be forced to pay for other people’s higher education, and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on March 11, 2023 by a vote of 50-13 but the bill did not progress in the Senate.
