This bill establishes a “Chief Diversity Officer” within the State Personnel Office, the likes of whom will help the state implement many of its DEI initiatives. The bill also directs state agencies to develop and implement policies to identify and decrease “institutional racism.” CPAC opposes the entry of DEI into the US’ halls of power and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on February 28, 2023 by a vote of 27-10 but the bill did not progress in the House.
