SB 397
Waging War on Parental Rights in Education.
2023 - New Mexico Senate

Vote Description
This bill establishes “school-based health centers,” the likes of which will work in cooperation with “qualified healthcare providers” like Planned Parenthood to deliver healthcare to kids at the school. This measure also increases the capacity of schools to administer so-called “gender-affirming healthcare” to students without their parents’ consent or notice. CPAC supports parental rights in education, opposes measures that crush parental involvement in the medical decisions of their children, and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on February 27, 2023 by a vote of 26-11 and the bill later became law.
