SB 426
Weaponizing the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office Against Conservatives.
2023 - New Mexico Senate
Vote Description

This bill creates a civil rights division within the New Mexico Attorney General’s office. This division would have the power to investigate alleged civil rights violations and bring civil actions against individuals for these supposed violations. CPAC recognizes that this division will merely become a means of persecuting conservatives and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 13, 2023 by a vote of 23-15 but Governor Grisham vetoed the bill.
