S 2429
Allowing School Employees to Distribute Pornography to Minors
2024 - Rhode Island Senate
Vote Description

This bill makes it more difficult for school employees to be charged for circulating pornography to minors. It does this by allowing them to use their status as school employees as an affirmative defense in a court of law when they are charged with circulating obscene materials to minors. CPAC believes that teachers should not be empowered to circulate pornography to minors and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 11, 2024 by a vote of 31-5 but the bill did not become law.
