H3604
Gargantuan Crony Financial Incentive Bill for Scout Motors’ EV Factory.
2023 - South Carolina Senate

Vote Description
This bill approves a massive $1,300,000,000 incentive package to help Scout Motors build an electric vehicle factory near Blythewood, South Carolina. While much of this funding will go toward building up infrastructure around the site, an estimated $400,000,000 will go straight to Scout Motors to help them build the factory. This project is projected to create somewhere around 4,000 jobs, meaning that the state is spending about $325,000 per job. CPAC opposes this crony corporatism and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 14, 2023 by a vote of 36-4 and the bill later became law.
