This bill forces the board of trustees to develop a plan to provide insurance coverage for bariatric surgeries to annuitants and certain members of the public employment retirement system. It does this by raising the number of individuals for which this plan must be developed. CPAC does not believe that government resources should help subsidize weight loss initiatives and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on May 10, 2023 by a vote of 26-4 but the bill never became law.
