Vote Description
The Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez amendment to the Strategic Production Response Act would limit the US’ plan to expand oil and gas leasing permits by disallowing new leasing in locations where doing so would be inconsistent with the goals of the Paris Accords. The Paris Accords are an international treaty on climate change that the US first entered into during the Obama administration. CPAC opposes the subjugation of domestic interests to the manipulativeness of foreign organizations and treaties and opposed this amendment. The House defeated this amendment on January 27, 2023 by a vote of 199-229.
