RC 35
Protecting Pension Funds Against the ESG Regime.
2023 - US Senate

Vote Description
This Congressional Review Act resolution sponsored by Rep. Andy Barr nullifies the Department of Labor rule entitled, “Prudence and Loyalty in Selecting Plan Investments and Exercising Shareholder Rights.” This rule allowed public investment managers to invest pension funds on the basis of ESG standards and objectives. CPAC believes that such fiduciaries should make decisions so as to further the financial interests of those they are intended to benefit and not the interests of ESG scores. CPAC, therefore, supported this resolution. The Senate passed this resolution on March 1, 2023 by a vote of 50-46 but President Biden vetoed the resolution.
