S.J. Res 38
Waiver of Buy America Requirements for Electric Vehicle Chargers
2024 - US Senate
Vote Description

This motion by Marco Rubio (CPAC Score 87%) is to override Biden’s special regulatory carve-out for electric vehicles. Biden vetoed a Congressional Review Act resolution that would have overrode an administrative rule that gave a waiver to electric vehicle parts that fall under “buy American” requirements for steel, iron and construction materials among other parts. CPAC does not support the increased costs of “buy American” rules but does not believe one product should be singled out for a waiver while others are forced to adhere to the requirements and supported Senator Rubio's motion. The Senate sustained the veto on February 29, 2024 by a vote of 50-47 (a 2/3 vote was needed).
