Colorado Election Analysis from former Congressman Bob Beauprez Colorado Election Analysis from former Congressman Bob Beauprez Politically astute observers know that Colorado has been tough territory for conservatives the last few election cycles, but like the rest of America, there is optimism for that Red Wave to yield some good results in the Mile High state on November 8. As Politico recently highlighted in a lengthy feature, GOP Senate candidate Joe O’Dea is running a near perfect campaign and giving the 14-year incumbent Democrat Michael Bennet one heck of a fight. Politico – which is notoriously a left leaning publication – has concluded that O’Dea may be the big surprise winner three weeks from now. Colorado gained an 8th Congressional District this cycle thanks to the 2020 census, and current State Senator Barb Kirkmeyer is heading to victory. Kirkmeyer is a Colorado native with a dairy farming background and was also a former Weld County Commissioner. Weld County is makes up the greatest part of the new district. Real Clear Politics has the race as “ lean Republican ”, and Kirkmeyer looks ready to prove them right. Currently the Democrats hold all four statewide constitutional offices – Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Attorney General. For a change, this cycle the GOP primary voters nominated outstanding mainstream candidates in each race. Don’t be surprised when Republicans knock off current incumbents in two or three of those contests. The state legislature has also been in majority control of the Democrats, but the GOP looks to make gains there, too, and has a real shot at taking back the Senate majority. It’s quite telling that in spite of being in control of the executive branch and the legislature both at the federal and state level, all the Colorado Democrats seem to be able to talk about is abortion. Republicans are running on solid ideas to fix the massive problems – inflation, crime, the border crisis, education, etc. – that the Democrats’ policies have inflicted upon Colorado and the nation. That became crystal clear in the Virginia gubernatorial race when mothers and fathers rose up against the socialist left that tried to kick parents out of education decisions. “This week Florida lawmakers listened to that message by ensuring that school bureaucracies could not indoctrinate young students with their liberal talking points. The Parental Rights in Education bill ensures that parents, rather than government employees, have the lead in educating children from kindergarten through third grade about sexual orientation and gender identity. These conversations, with children at such a young age, should be handled by parents at home instead of by non-family members with their own personal opinions. “For years, the socialist democrats have been pushing hard to indoctrinate children with Critical Race Theory. Now they want to push their ultra-radical misinformed policies of sex and gender on children during their most vulnerable and influential period of their lives. “The Florida legislature has stepped up to protect students. CPAC Releases New Jersey Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Another Year of Radical Leftism in the Garden State. ALEXANDRIA, VA (March 11, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals New Jersey’s legislators garner extremely low scores across both parties. For example, New Jersey’s Republicans average a failing 52.5%, a rare result among all 50 State’s scored by CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability. SEE SCORECARD HERE “New Jersey imposes one of the highest tax burdens in the nation onto its citizens and is consistently losing residents due to it,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Like other blue states, New Jersey has become a hotbed for the worst excesses of the Left’s radical agenda.” CPAC recognizes several New Jersey state legislators for their conservative voting records. The following members of the New Jersey State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session: Erik Peterson (94%) Robert Auth (93%) Parker Space (93%) Additionally, some lawmakers in the New Jersey State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session.
