  • CPAC Statement on North Carolina Budget Negotiation

CPAC Statement on North Carolina Budget Negotiation CPAC Statement on North Carolina Budget Negotiation Today the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) sent the following statement to the North Carolina Legislature urging a clean tax cut: As the impact of “Bidenomics” continues to harm individuals, working families, and small business, a proposal is being floated in North Carolina to reduce the state income tax and instead raise revenue through cannabis legalization and gambling expansion. We urge legislators in Raleigh to slow the process down to allow for greater transparency and input from North Carolinians. To be clear, CPAC strongly supports reducing tax burdens on working Americans and small businesses . Broad-based tax cuts would be welcomed to offset the pain caused by President Biden’s economic policies, the cost of which is estimated to be $433 a month on average for every family. However, linking tax cuts to either drug legalization or gambling expansion requires careful scrutiny . Policymakers must ensure that the collateral impacts of either policy are outweighed by the economic benefits of a tax cut. Fundamentally, however, we refuse to buy into the Left’s argument that cutting state income taxes requires revenue increases elsewhere. Such an approach assumes a static economic model, when even high school economics students understand revenues from organic growth can replace those lost to tax cuts. Even if economic growth does not fully “pay for” tax cuts, policymakers should first look to shrinking government to balance the books. Whether it is expanding gambling or legalizing drugs, the North Carolina legislature owes it to the voters to fully understand the consequences of such policies for families and businesses. Decisions on complex issues like drug legalization and gambling should be removed from the discussion of tax relief. They should be made in the light of day, with both an informed citizenry and experts at the table. With only a short time left in the legislative session, CPAC urges you to pass a clean tax cut without special-interest legislative riders masquerading as revenue drivers. In the event a budget is rushed through the legislature that includes drug legalization or gambling expansion, we would recommend to our colleagues at the CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability (Ratings) that they score a ‘yes’ vote negatively. • CPAC Issues Pledge to Prospective Republican Leadership Regarding Woke Companies

CPAC Issues Pledge to Prospective Republican Leadership Regarding Woke Companies CPAC Issues Pledge to Prospective Republican Leadership Regarding Woke Companies Alexandria, VA — CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp sent the following letter issuing a pledge to prospective Republican leadership regarding woke companies. Dear Congressman, As Republicans prepare for a new dawn in Congress, CPAC has been courted for our endorsement in various leadership races and for chairmanships. The first step to earn our support is a new shared strategy to reprimand corporations that have gone woke. Specifically, these companies have colluded with the Biden Administration to silence conservative voices; promoted lies about Voter ID and chose not to support conservatives who stand for fair elections; Are paying for the travel costs for employee abortions (including late-term) subsidized by their customers, a majority of which stand for life; Are promoting radical gender theory and gender modification onto our children; And supported the anti-police BLM movement that wreaked havoc on streets and in neighborhoods across the county and has contributed to a spike in violent crime. Pledge that you will not meet with these CEOs or their leadership teams, especially their Government Affairs staff, who have been hostile to policies that help all Americans, until they change their ways. To stop them from doing so requires leadership. Woke CEOs turned their backs on conservative leaders after the last election. For the first time in almost 30 years, Republicans will achieve a majority largely without the support of Fortune 100 companies. Instead, conservatives will take control led by activists and entrepreneurs who are exhausted and offended by the radical left policies pushed by these publicly traded companies. With new, conservative majorities, these same corporate woke elitist will be back on Capitol Hill, trying to cozy back up to conservatives. CPAC calls on you to take a stand and not allow this to happen without a renunciation of woke policies and racist attacks on the GOP. This is the Republican Party’s moment to declare independence from corporate special interest money that flows from left leaning large publicly traded companies who in the end don’t believe that America is a special place and work to undermine those institutions and society that uphold Western civilization. Sincerely, Matt Schlapp Chairman, CPAC ### Take Action Tell your member of Congress to join conservatives in reprimanding corporations that have gone woke. Sign our petition here . Update: News outlets continue to cover CPAC’s letter. Washington Times: CPAC asks House Republicans for pledge not to meet with ‘woke’ corporations Reuters: Conservative group calls on Republicans to disavow ‘left-leaning’ companies Breitbart: CPAC to Oppose Republicans Who Meet with ‘Woke’ Corporations Punchbowl News: CPAC’s Matt Schlapp has sent a letter to House Republicans warning that his organization won’t endorse any candidate for a leadership race unless they vow to reject meetings with “woke” corporations. • ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Wisconsin State Legislature

ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Wisconsin State Legislature ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Wisconsin State Legislature The Wisconsin State Legislature last year had one of the largest partisan divides in the country, according to the American Conservative Union Foundation’s annual ratings of state legislatures. That wide divide is the result of the Republicans in the state legislature becoming more conservative, while the Democrats have become more liberal, increasingly pushing misguided policies from Washington, DC. The American Conservative Union Foundation conducts an annual, in-depth analysis to rate all 8,000 lawmakers in America, revealing their positions on a wide variety of issues directly affecting our communities and families. The state’s overall score was a very modest average of 59 percent . Behind that number, however, is a more promising story about conservative victories in the state legislation, and all of the wins Republicans are achieving in Wisconsin. In the 2020 session, leftist lawmakers in the state undermined election integrity, while conservatives were largely united on this crucial issue as a paramount pillar of freedom in our society . We need your help to keep moving Wisconsin’s state legislature in the right direction. Check out the press release below with more details and please take action ! It only takes three minutes to let your legislators know that their score from the American Conservative Union Foundation is important to you, and you expect them to support more conservative policies. New Analysis Shows Wisconsin Legislature Sharply Divided on Party Lines Alexandria, VA—Lawmakers of the Wisconsin Legislature voted along party lines more frequently than nearly any legislature in the country, according to the just-released analysis published by The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF), host of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Review the scorecard to see the ratings of all Wisconsin state lawmakers and find out which votes ACUF scored. On average, Wisconsin state lawmakers earned a 58.49% conservative rating for the 2020 session, denoting a fairly moderate legislature. However, WisconsinRepublicans (88.5%) regularly top ACUF’s rankings of Republican conferences, while Wisconsin Democrats (11.95%) are tenth-most liberal, following Massachusetts, New York and others. Since 2018, the Wisconsin Legislature’s “partisan divide,” or the difference between the average score of each party, has topped ACUF’s national rankings of all 50 states. During the 2020 session, the partisan divide was 76.55%, once again ranking in the top five. “Our analysis shows that Wisconsin is one of the most deeply divided legislatures in the country,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “It is troubling to see so many of Wisconsin’s elected officials on the left try to tear down basic principles of election integrity or increase wasteful spending during an economic shutdown. Wisconsin’s partisan divide may continue to grow if liberals insist on such a radical agenda.” ACUF’s Ratings of Congress and Ratings of the States are initiatives of ACUF’s Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA). These ratings are designed to reflect how over 8,000 elected officials across the nation view the role of government while illustrating the differences between chambers of the legislature and revealing lawmakers’ positions on a wide variety of issues that directly affect citizens. • CPAC STATEMENT ON POLITICAL PROSECUTION OF STEVE BANNON

CPAC STATEMENT ON POLITICAL PROSECUTION OF STEVE BANNON CPAC STATEMENT ON POLITICAL PROSECUTION OF STEVE BANNON From the beginning, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s January 6th committee was a sham. Pelosi directed her illegitimate Kangaroo Court committee to create a carefully scripted and biased narrative without representation from conservative Members of Congress. The Democrats joined by Adam Kinzinger (29% CPAC Rating) and Liz Cheney (54% CPAC Rating), drunk with power and vitriol, are now imprisoning conservatives for standing firm and not complying with their rigged system. First with the imprisonment of former White House advisor Peter Navarro, and now with Steve Bannon. Steve Bannon is someone who has battled against the Left and their lies. To silence him, an activist judge is now sending him to jail for standing up to their tyranny. CPAC stands with Steve Bannon and urges Congress to end this lawfare against conservative leaders. • CPAC urges Utah legislators to override Gov. Cox’s veto of HB 11

CPAC urges Utah legislators to override Gov. Cox’s veto of HB 11 CPAC urges Utah legislators to override Gov. Cox’s veto of HB 11 The Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) sent the following letter urging action on legislation protecting women’s sports following Governor Cox’s veto of HB 11. Dear Member of the Utah State Legislature: We at the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) were very disheartened to see the news of Gov. Cox’s veto of HB 11, which we view as common-sense legislation to protect the integrity of women’s sports. Across the country we have seen the radical gender politics of the Woke Left infiltrate all facets of our lives. Thank you for taking a necessary step with the initial passage of HB 11. But the fight is not over. Failure to override the veto would have severe consequences, including taking away roster spots, records, and future scholarships from young women. It would also send a message to our adversaries that enough political pressure by their henchmen can turn the whole country into their woke nightmare. Eleven states have already passed laws aimed at combating the woke gender policies damaging women’s sports. Americans everywhere are tired of organizations like the NCAA pushing their left-wing agenda against the will of the people. While this bill does not go far enough by failing to include universities, it is still a necessary first step to protect opportunities for women. Accordingly, CPAC strongly supports this legislation and urges you to override the Governor’s veto. We have recommended to our colleagues at the American Conservative Union Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability (Ratings) that they score a vote to override the Governors’ veto positively in their 2022 ratings. – Conservative Political Action Coalition NEWS & RELEASES .
