  • CPAC Releases Louisiana Legislative Scorecard, Foreshadowing the Conservative Session Ahead for Governor Landry.

CPAC Releases Louisiana Legislative Scorecard, Foreshadowing the Conservative Session Ahead for Governor Landry. CPAC Releases Louisiana Legislative Scorecard, Foreshadowing the Conservative Session Ahead for Governor Landry. ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 24, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals that Republicans in the Louisiana legislature continued to have legislative priorities thwarted by vetoes from former Governor John Bel Edwards during the 2023 session. SEE SCORECARD HERE “In Louisiana, voters decided to trade up from Democrat Governor John Bel Edwards to a conservative Governor in Jeff Landry (CPAC Rating 98%),” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Last session the former Governor stood in the way of policies which protect elections, strengthen parental rights, and fight radical gender ideology in the classroom. With Governor Landry at the helm, we expect Louisiana to reverse these setbacks.” CPAC recognizes the following members of the Louisiana State Legislature for earning CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session. Sherman Mack (95%) Thomas Pressly (90%) Additionally, many lawmakers in the Louisiana State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session. Their names are highlighted in gray on the scorecard. The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Louisiana addressed national security, government spending, and parental rights in education. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Louisiana legislature. The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area. • Statement on President Donald Trump’s Arraignment

Statement on President Donald Trump’s Arraignment Statement on President Donald Trump’s Arraignment “Today’s events highlight the dangers of a so-called “justice” system that allows unaccountable prosecutors to put politics ahead of public safety. This is eye-opening for many conservatives, regardless of whether they support Donald J. Trump. When every aspect of life is governed by bureaucrats and regulations, and prosecutorial power is unchecked, it is all too easy to become a target. Soros-funded prosecutor Alvin Bragg campaigned in ultra-liberal Manhattan on investigating Trump. Desperate to fulfill his campaign promise, he searched high and low to find anything that could support a charge. Bragg then relied on testimony from a convicted liar to validate it. This is not how a fair justice system should work. Former Attorney General and Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson said the duty of a prosecutor is not to notch wins in court. Rather, the duty of a prosecutor is to seek justice. Alvin Bragg has failed in his duty. The Trump indictment is little more than politics dressed up as prosecution, and it should end. At a minimum, Bragg should recuse himself, given his Soros connections. And any further litigation should be moved to a venue where the President can be judged by an unbiased jury of his peers. If Trump can get a fair trial, we are confident he will be vindicated.” Matt Schlapp Chairman, CPAC David Safavian General Counsel, CPAC ### NEWS & RELEASES . • CPAC Endorses Sarah Huckabee Sanders

CPAC Endorses Sarah Huckabee Sanders CPAC Endorses Sarah Huckabee Sanders Alexandria, VA – The Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) today announced its endorsement of Sarah Huckabee Sanders for Governor of the State of Arkansas. “Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the right person to be the next governor Arkansas,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Serving as President Trump’s press secretary for over two years, Sarah proved herself as a fighter who boldly and tirelessly fights the radical Left’s perversion of the truth at every turn. Our country is desperate for the kind of devotion to America’s founding principles that has become synonymous with Sarah’s reputation. We endorse Sarah because she is determined to govern Arkansas with a conservative philosophy and a commonsense agenda, including protecting Arkansans’ constitutional rights, thwarting the rise of socialism in Washington, and standing up for the people of her state. CPAC is proud to endorse Sarah Huckabee Sanders and we urge everyone in Arkansas to support her candidacy this election.” The Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) is the nation’s original grass roots conservative organization. For more than fifty years, CPAC has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, strong national defense, and fighting the D.C. establishment. CPAC Statement on the Resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle CPAC Statement on the Resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle The resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle does not change anything. The American people deserve to know why a catastrophic security failure resulted in the near assassination of President Donald J. Trump and murder of Corey Comperatore. The American people are being stonewalled by the Harris administration. It is the least transparent government since people got their news by horse and buggy. The FBI must immediately release their findings, and we call on Kamala Harris to fire DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his role in the prolonged coverup. NEWS & RELEASES . • CPAC Launched New Ad Campaign in Times Square to Save Women’s Sports

CPAC Launched New Ad Campaign in Times Square to Save Women’s Sports CPAC Launched New Ad Campaign in Times Square to Save Women’s Sports As Lia Thomas, the transgender college swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania, has continued to accumulate more medals and titles in women’s swimming, the risks to women’s sports are on full display. Title IX was enacted in 1972, immediately providing new opportunities for female athletes. Over the past five decades, we have seen tremendous growth in girls’ participation in high school sports. In the 1971-1972 school year, there were only 294,000 female athletes in high school, while 3,667,000 high school boys played on a school sport that same year. With Title IX in effect, girls now make up fully 43 percent of the total number of high school athletes. Every athletic award that goes to a male-bodied athlete deprives a female competitor of the opportunity to win an award. Allowing athletes who have gone through male puberty to compete against females tilts the playing field unfairly, creating disadvantages for females. To shed light on the urgent need to protect women’s sports, CPAC is launching a new ad campaign in Times Square. One ad celebrates Emma Weyant, the rightful national champion swimmer in women’s college swimming. CPAC is also urging Americans to sign on a new petition , demanding that state legislators and governors work to protect girls’ athletic opportunities. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has caved to woke politics, but most Americans believe women’s sports are worth saving. NEWS & RELEASES . • CASM’s Executive Director Jack Kalavritinos: America’s March Toward Socialized Medicine Puts Freedom in the Crosshairs

CASM’s Executive Director Jack Kalavritinos: America’s March Toward Socialized Medicine Puts Freedom in the Crosshairs CASM’s Executive Director Jack Kalavritinos: America’s March Toward Socialized Medicine Puts Freedom in the Crosshairs “The election is over—in most places—but for American families, the problems they had before November are still real. Over 66 percent of Americans think that the country is on the wrong track, according to the latest IPSOS poll . There has been a lot to be concerned about: economic instability and inflation reducing people’s paychecks, crime spiking at breakneck speed, and the feeling of Americans losing their freedoms – in particular with their children at school and on personal healthcare issues. On the health front – issues revolving around choice, the doctor-patient relationship, and access to innovation – matter greatly to the average American. “Our leaders are suffering from a serious disconnect in optimizing the quality of care in our country. Instead of incentivizing the power of the free market to develop the best treatments that science can offer, government leaders have been hell-bent on imposing draconian price controls, expanding Obamacare, and creating more bureaucracy. The new Congress presents an opportunity to swing back the pendulum towards a middle ground of realistic solutions that improve our system. “The dubiously named Inflation Reduction Act, narrowly passed along party lines, includes provisions that mandate price controls on Medicare drugs. This ill-advised policy directly puts drug accessibility and innovation on the chopping block, as manufacturers will be forced to reallocate investments to foot the bill. Proposals like this cut against the outstanding American successes of our innovation pipeline. Historically, America has led the way in creating the best treatments in the world. Sacrificing this innovation on the altar of socialist ideology creates a self-inflicted wound that will impact the lives of millions.” Read more on realclearpolicy.com . https://t.co/xcG7twl00x NEWS & RELEASES . • Abandoning friends; Emboldening enemies

Abandoning friends; Emboldening enemies Abandoning friends; Emboldening enemies This week, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing on the United States’ policy in Venezuela. They discussed the heavy sanctions levied against Nicolás Maduro’s illegitimate socialist regime. Once the richest country in South America, a thriving democracy with the world’s largest crude oil reserves, Venezuela’s people are now literally starving to death. If America were to re-apply the policies of the Obama-Biden administration today, Maduro’s disastrous regime, propped up by Cuba, Russia, and Iran, would continue indefinitely. In 1982, Biden voted in opposition to the reaffirmation of the Monroe Doctrine. So unpopular was this stance, that he was joined by only 27 other lawmakers, and it’s easy to understand why. It broadcasts American vulnerability, not strength. The Monroe Doctrine warns against foreign interference in the Western Hemisphere. President John F. Kennedy invoked the Monroe Doctrine during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. At that time, the Soviet Union had installed ballistic missile facilities on the tiny island nation less than 100 miles from Florida. JFK’s Monroe Doctrine-based response prevented escalation into full-scale nuclear war. Fast-forward to 2013. “The era of the Monroe Doctrine is over,” said John Kerry, then serving as the Obama-Biden administration’s Secretary of State. Undoubtedly, Joe Biden concurs. Meanwhile, in 2020, Russia and China fiercely protect their respective spheres of influence. The prospect of a Biden presidency in which America returns to renouncing the Monroe Doctrine must fill our adversaries with delight. NEWS & RELEASES . • CPAC Foundation Releases 53rd Edition of the Ratings of Congress

CPAC Foundation Releases 53rd Edition of the Ratings of Congress CPAC Foundation Releases 53rd Edition of the Ratings of Congress Alexandria, VA – CPAC Foundation has released the 53rd Edition of its annual Ratings of Congress. This report, widely considered the “gold standard” on evaluating political ideology, includes an exhaustive compilation of 76 key roll call votes in the House and 41 key roll call votes in the Senate. This comprehensive report evaluates more than 35,000 individual votes cast by all 535 members of Congress across the full spectrum of policy issues. “CPAC is excited to present the 53rd edition of CPAC Foundation’s Ratings of Congress. We are proud to carry on the responsibility of holding our representatives in Washington D.C. accountable to the American public,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Freed from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, conservatives finally received the chance to promote and vote on a wide array of amendments. The incredible diversity of issues touched on by these amendments has helped differentiate establishment Republicanism from the true constitutional conservatives more than ever.” Lawmakers receiving the Award for Conservative Excellence for Conservative Ratings of 90% or above: Lawmakers receiving the Award for Conservative Achievement for Conservative Ratings of 80% to 89%: To produce this year’s scorecard, CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability analyzed every vote taken last session and selected a wide array of issues relating to fiscal matters, taxation, regulation, education, the environment, Second Amendment rights, election security, life, and government integrity. All lawmakers in America at the federal and state levels are scored on a 100-point scale. Among the lowest scoring Republican Members of the U.S. Senate were Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY-68%), Mitt Romney (R-UT-59%), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK-55%), and Susan Collins (R-ME-54%). Despite being touted by the media as ‘moderates,’ the highest scoring Democrats in the U.S. Senate received the following paltry scores: Joe Manchin (D-WV-30%), Jon Tester (D-MT-15%), and Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ-12%). Congress became even more polarized during President Biden’s third year in office. Democrats only voted with the conservative position an average of 2% of the time, demonstrating a level of cohesion not found among Republicans, the likes of whom average an 80%. In total, Congress votes with the conservative position just 41% of the time. CPAC Foundation is the first and only organization in America to annually publish individual ratings for all the nearly 8,000 federal and state lawmakers in America. CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability is also home to the nation’s most comprehensive conservative policy database, containing over 23,000 detailed bill analyses which span 50 years of Congress and all 50 state legislatures. • American Conservative Union Strongly Opposes the Wasteful & Ineffective “Infrastructure and Jobs Act”

American Conservative Union Strongly Opposes the Wasteful & Ineffective “Infrastructure and Jobs Act” American Conservative Union Strongly Opposes the Wasteful & Ineffective “Infrastructure and Jobs Act” The American Conservative Union stands strongly against the dubiously titled “Infrastructure and Jobs Act”, a 2,702-page bill that wastes trillions of dollars, blows out the deficit, and includes countless provisions that have nothing to do with investing in American infrastructure. Our nation’s infrastructure is in dire need of repair, yet Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and his leftist cronies have put forth legislation that leaves our roads and bridges to crumble while steering taxpayer resources to partisan special interests. Now is a time for honesty from our leadership and for all Senators to stand against this bill’s ridiculous allocation of government funding and flagrant disregard of how our government invests tax dollars. The American Conservative Union Foundation will be closely watching the Senate as this bill reaches its final vote and will be grading legislators accordingly for 2021’s ratings term. ### NEWS & RELEASES . • CPAC Statement on Report of CIA Election Interference

CPAC Statement on Report of CIA Election Interference CPAC Statement on Report of CIA Election Interference For years, the radical left has partnered with the deep state to attack President Trump and his allies by interfering in elections, attempting bogus impeachments, and abusing prosecutorial power. Despite the lies of those in the mainstream media, we now know that officials from our own government colluded with campaign advisors to interfere in the 2020 election in order to prop up their preferred candidate, Joe Biden. The New York Post’s factual reporting on the discovery of Hunter Biden’s laptop and its contents was suppressed almost immediately by Joe Biden’s cronies in the media, in part due to a letter submitted by current Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and 51 other intelligence officers claiming the story bared the classic hallmarks of “Russian disinformation.” This falsehood was pedaled just days before the final Presidential debate of 2020 and was used to discredit the legitimate concerns that Hunter Biden was using the relationship with his father to obtain a personal fortune and curry favor with hostile powers such as China. Today’s Interim Joint Staff Report exposed the full extent of these lies, revealing how senior staff formerly of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) abused their office by actively coordinating with Anthony Blinken and other Biden campaign officials to draft, edit, and release the phony statement weeks prior to the 2020 Presidential election.CPAC applauds Chairman Jim Jordan and his colleagues on the House Judiciary’s Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government for bringing these shocking revelations to light. In the critical moments before the 2020 presidential election, mainstream media, corrupt liberal advocates, and those from our own Federal Government conspired with the Biden campaign to peddle disinformation that would alter the course of a presidential race. As polling has previously indicated, 16% of Biden voters would have voted differently if the Hunter Biden laptop revaluations were not suppressed by the media and big tech. We look forward to working alongside the Republican majority to hold accountable those individuals who abused their positions of authority to engage in election interference. NEWS & RELEASES .
