- CPAC Statement on the Limit, Save, Grow Act
CPAC Statement on the Limit, Save, Grow Act CPAC Statement on the Limit, Save, Grow Act Time and time again, too many republicans have waved the white flag on dealing with “must pass” legislation to fund the government or raise the debt limit, perpetuating a failed system that has left hard-working American Families with $31 Trillion dollars of debt. We applaud the new Republican Majority for addressing the problem head on with the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 sponsored by Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (CPAC Conservative 97% Lifetime Rating). Speaker Kevin McCarthy (CPAC Conservative 84% Lifetime Rating) deserves our support in his fight to hold the Biden administration accountable for their disastrous socialist policies. The Green New Deal, federal welfare programs, and overreaching regulation on businesses has led to rampant inflation, crushing American families. Since the new Republican majority has taken over the House of Representatives, we have seen a push to unleash American Energy, protect girls in sports, give parents a stronger voice in their child’s education, and hold reckless Soros prosecutors, like Alvin Bragg, accountable. It is now time to pass legislation that will begin to alleviate the stranglehold our massive national debt has on our nation. More can be accomplished if House Republicans continue to stand their ground. CPAC applauds the leaders in the House of Representatives who are fighting for American families by working to pass legislation that unleashes the American economy and gives power back to the people they were elected to serve. We will continue to recommend to our sister organization, the CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability (Ratings), to monitor the package and recommend they positively score a vote in favor of a package which prevents a ‘clean’ debt ceiling increase while delivering conservative policy solutions like those included in the introduced Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 . ### NEWS & RELEASES . - CPAC Releases Minnesota Legislative Scorecard, Illuminating the Severe Consequences of Empowering Democrats.
CPAC Releases Minnesota Legislative Scorecard, Illuminating the Severe Consequences of Empowering Democrats. CPAC Releases Minnesota Legislative Scorecard, Illuminating the Severe Consequences of Empowering Democrats. ALEXANDRIA, VA (February 6, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals that the ascension of the DFL to full power in Minnesota has, as is to be expected, pushed Minnesota legislation far to the Left. Without the balancing power of a Republican-led Senate, 94% of the liberal bills scored by CPAC in the Senate became law (compared to only 30% from when power was more divided). Increased Leftism of both legislative chambers has also made many Republicans appear more conservative in their voting patterns. For this reason, there is considerable fluctuation upwards in the scores for many Republicans. SEE SCORECARD HERE “The loss of Minnesota to full socialist control is a tragic one,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Leftists have taken full advantage of this opportunity to advance their war on life and biological realities. If only Republicans were as opportunistic.” CPAC recognizes the following members of the Minnesota State Legislature for earning CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session. Senate: Bruce Anderson (94%) Calvin Bahr (94%) Steve Drazkowski (94%) Steve Green (94%) Glenn Gruenhagen (94%) Jeff Howe (94%) Mark Koran (94%) Eric Lucero (94%) Torrey Westrom (94%) Jordan Rasmusson (94%) Michael Kreun (93%) Jason Rarick (93%) Bill Lieske (93%) Nathan Wesenberg (93%) House: Matt Grossell (100%) Shane Mekeland (100%) Jim Joy (95%) Harry Niska (95%) Joe Schomaker (95%) Isaac Schultz (95%) Ben Davis (94%) Josh Heintzman (94%) Chris Swedzinski (94%) Pam Altendorf (94%) Marj Fogelman (94%) Mike Wiener (94%) Brian Daniels (94%) Walter Hudson (94%) Ron Kresha (94%) Paul Torkelson (94%) Joe McDonald (93%) Additionally, many lawmakers in the Minnesota State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session. Their names are highlighted in gray on the scorecard. The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Minnesota expand radical gender ideology, the pro-abortion agenda, and decrease election security. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and upholding the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Minnesota legislature. The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area. In fact, Democrat lawmakers voted with the conservative position just 14% of the time. Click Here to view the 2021 Ratings of Virginia “The ratings demonstrate how Democrat leadership in Virginia continues to bow down to labor unions, politically-connected special interests, trial attorneys, and the most radical elements of the Democratic Party,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp . “Now, more than ever, Virginia needs strong leaders to put an end to policies which make Virginia less attractive to families and job creators.” Policies rated by ACUF include the attack on fair elections (HB 1890), taxpayer funding of abortion (HB 1896), bringing California’s draconian emissions standards to Virginia (HB 1965), new firearm restrictions (HB 2276), attempts to force state employees to learn Critical Race Theory (HJR 537) and additional employer mandates (HB 2063). - “CPAC Remains Committed to Exposing the Lies from this Illegitimate Committee”
“CPAC Remains Committed to Exposing the Lies from this Illegitimate Committee” “CPAC Remains Committed to Exposing the Lies from this Illegitimate Committee” CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp released the following statement regarding the illegitimate 1/6 committee: The 1/6 committee has nothing to do with “Saving our Democracy” but is an illegitimate attempt to push what is essentially a third impeachment proceeding to cancel President Trump and anyone who is allied with him. The President’s future role in an elected office should be a decision reached by voters across America and not by one past her prime politico from San Francisco and her underlings, including two weak Republican lackeys. This political corruption pushed by socialists will be countered with vigor. CPAC remains committed to exposing the lies from this illegitimate committee. Mercy and I started fielding calls from concerned conservative victims as soon as Speaker Pelosi’s illegitimate committee began its political workings to destroy young staffers. The CPAC board immediately agreed to establish the First Amendment Fund to defend the Constitutional rights of those being politically persecuted by this illegitimate process. Amid raging inflation, catastrophically high gas prices, shortages in baby formula and other life essentials, along with dangerous aggression abroad it is of great offense to the American people to waste their taxpayer money on a last-ditch political gambit to distract voters from focusing on the failures of Biden’s socialism. - Wisconsin dairy farmers put out to pasture
Wisconsin dairy farmers put out to pasture Wisconsin dairy farmers put out to pasture Two days after President Trump’s visit to riot-ravaged Kenosha, Wisconsin, Joe Biden emerged from his basement to follow suit. His first trip to the battleground state this election year, Biden’s ho-hum address to the handful of town hall attendees at Grace Lutheran Church was safe and predictable. He muddled through most of the Democrats’ standard talking points and called it a day. His silence on one topic in particular was quite telling, though. Biden didn’t say a single word about his record on supporting the Badger State’s dairy farmers. Biden voted for many general farm subsidies in 47-year career, and even voted to preserve a $6 million gift to Hawaii sugarcane growers. But when Wisconsin’s dairy industry faced its most desperate hour, Joe Biden was nowhere to be found. In 1991, the dairy industry was cratering. Squeezed by high costs and low prices, long-time farmers were giving up . In November of that year, Biden voted “no” on an amendment to an unrelated bill that would have bolstered price supports for the struggling dairy farmers. Sponsored by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Sen. Bob Kasten (R-Wis.), the amendment failed by only four votes. Biden’s proposed $2 trillion climate plan, which includes investments in sustainable agriculture , cannot absolve him of abandoning Wisconsin’s dairy farmers when they most needed his vote. In Biden’s America, farmers are relegated to the back forty. NEWS & RELEASES . - Playing Hyde n’ Seek with Innocent Lives
Playing Hyde n’ Seek with Innocent Lives Playing Hyde n’ Seek with Innocent Lives Consistency isn’t Joe’s strong suit, particularly when it comes to his stance on abortion. Biden’s transition from staunch pro-life Catholic to dyed-in-the-wool abortion extremist began four decades ago. As the Democrats’ 2020 presidential nominee, it is rapidly approaching completion. Central in this transition is his position on the Hyde Amendment. The Hyde Amendment is a provision attached to congressional spending bills that prohibits using federal health care dollars to fund abortions. From 1976 to the day he left the Senate in 2009, Biden supported the Hyde Amendment. In June of 2019, Biden flipped . At a Democratic Party fundraiser in Atlanta, Biden announced that he no longer supported the ban on using federal health care dollars to fund abortion, citing its incompatibility with his stance that health care is a right. He even said he would restore federal funding to the United States’ most prosperous abortion mill— Planned Parenthood —if he were elected. Biden’s denouncement of Hyde is alarming for reasons that go beyond the issue of abortion itself. The abrupt about-face demonstrates his willingness to capitulate to the most extreme members of his party. In Biden’s America, what you see—is not necessarily what you’ll get. NEWS & RELEASES . Matt Schlapp in The Washington Times: What binds America and Israel is stronger than Biden Matt Schlapp in The Washington Times: What binds America and Israel is stronger than Biden In a new column for The Washington Times , CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp talks about how free people around the world are still fighting for individual liberty and national sovereignty. Even in the face of terror, globalism and bad leadership, free people around the world are still passionately fighting for individual liberty and national sovereignty. That’s the message I heard loud and clear last week at CPAC Israel in Tel Aviv. I’ve just returned from our first CPAC Israel where over 2,000 people attended the event in Tel Aviv, just days after President Biden’s disastrous trip to the region. An Israeli journalist who spoke at the gathering said it was the “biggest conservative” event in Israeli history. You wouldn’t know about the event from the U.S. media, who breathlessly covered CPAC Hungary earlier this year with rancid insinuations that CPAC had embraced “antisemitic authoritarianism.” Vice, Vox, The Guardian and MSNBC were conspicuously absent in Tel Aviv. We saw first-hand how the Israeli people fervently hope to restore positive relations with the United States, a topic that was top of mind after Mr. Biden had the Israeli flags removed from the presidential motorcade on his second stop in Jerusalem. To add insult to injury, the president came to the region primarily to try to secure a commitment for more oil from Saudi Arabia, something he failed to accomplish.
