  • ACU Endorses Mike Garcia

ACU Endorses Mike Garcia ACU Endorses Mike Garcia The American Conservative Union (ACU) today announced its endorsement of Mike Garcia for election in California to the United States House of Representatives in the 25th District. “Serving our country as both a veteran and law enforcement officer, Mike understands the importance of having a strong national defense, fighting against socialism, and working to curb the overreach of bloated, ineffective government. His candidacy makes all of us at ACU optimistic that California can get back on a conservative path.” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “California must work to elect more conservatives and that starts with sending Mike Garcia to Congress and it’s why ACU is proud to endorse him for California’s 25th Congressional District. The district deserves conservative leadership, and we strongly urge all Californians in the 25th District to vote for Mike Garcia.” Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the nation’s original conservative organization. For more than fifty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. Statement from ACU Board Members Charlie Gerow & Carolyn Meadows Statement from ACU Board Members Charlie Gerow & Carolyn Meadows STATEMENT OF CHARLIE GEROW, FIRST VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF THE AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE UNION AND CAROLYN MEADOWS, SECOND VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF THE AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE UNION: “We are longtime members of the American Conservative Union Board of Directors. We have seen the most recent egregious attack by the Daily Beast on ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. We have both known Matt and his wife, Mercedes, for decades. We know Matt Schlapp’s heart and his character. And we believe this latest attempt at character assassination is false. Unfortunately, the Left and its note takers in the media routinely choose to scorch the earth in their quest to cancel those with whom they disagree. Whether it’s conservative judicial nominees or good people like Matt Schlapp, they will sink to any depth to destroy them and their families. It’s no coincidence that this latest hit piece dropped on the night before the first ever CPAC gala and a mere six weeks before our annual conference. The Daily Beast blog has a track record of attempting to sabotage CPAC events, using tabloid “reporting” to do so. We stand squarely behind Matt Schlapp, and the ACU Board of Directors has full confidence in his leadership of the organization.” ### NEWS & RELEASES . • New op-ed from Matt Schlapp: “The Power of President Trump’s Endorsement”

New op-ed from Matt Schlapp: “The Power of President Trump’s Endorsement” New op-ed from Matt Schlapp: “The Power of President Trump’s Endorsement” CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp penned a new op-ed in RealClearPolitics on the renewed power of an endorsement — at least one from President Trump: An old campaign adage argued that political endorsements often aren’t worth the paper they are printed on, and until President Donald J. Trump, they were right. Now the most important political asset any Republican candidate could earn is the Trump endorsement, and how he’s using it will continue to reshape the Republican Party and freeze the 2024 field. We have all watched as past Republican presidents fade into obscurity after departing the Oval Office. In most cases, their departures from D.C. marked the conclusion of their political ambition after weathering the arrows of the White House press corps. In each case, except for Ronald Reagan, their endorsements are seldom sought and matter little… That’s why it came as little surprise when news broke late Thursday night that Congressman Anthony Gonzalez — one of the 10 GOP House members who voted to impeach President Trump — announced he would not seek reelection. He was being beaten badly in the polls by Max Miller, his Trump-endorsed challenger, and he recognized there was no viable path to victory. President Trump’s success and influence continues to defy the political norms of the corrupt political class and, in doing so, he has established an unprecedented level of political influence. So far in 2021, President Trump’s endorsement record in Republican elections is 10-0. Six of those victories were in competitive elections to lead the national and state Republican parties. • CPAC Releases Florida Legislative Scorecard, Showing the Sunshine State Setting the Standard for Conservative Policy in the US.

CPAC Releases Florida Legislative Scorecard, Showing the Sunshine State Setting the Standard for Conservative Policy in the US. CPAC Releases Florida Legislative Scorecard, Showing the Sunshine State Setting the Standard for Conservative Policy in the US. ALEXANDRIA, VA (February 5, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals that Florida Republicans maintained their status as some of the nation’s strongest defenders of conservative principles. The state’s overall average score also increased by about nine percent, the likes of which is largely a result of the red wave Florida experienced in the 2022 election. SEE SCORECARD HERE “Behind the strong leadership of Gov. Ron DeSantis, Republicans in the legislature have turned Florida into the national leader in the charge against the rising tide of wokeness and Leftism sweeping through our country.” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Florida’s commitment to the passage of high-quality conservative legislation sets an example that other states should follow.” CPAC recognizes the following members of the Florida State Legislature for earning CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session. Senate: Ben Albritton (91%) Bryan Avila (91%) Dennis Baxley (91%) Jim Boyd (91%) Doug Broxson (91%) Danny Burgess (91%) Jay Collins (91%) Nick DiCeglie (91%) Travis Hutson (91%) Blaise Ingoglia (91%) Debbie Mayfield (91%) Kathleen Passidomo (91%) Keith Perry (91%) Ana Rodriguez (91%) Jay Trumbull (91%) Tom Wright (91%) Clay Yarborough (90%) House: Adam Anderson (95%) Fabián Basabe (95%) Philip Griffitts (95%) Traci Koster (95%) Ralph Massullo (95%) Jenna Persons-Mulicka (95%) Cyndi Stevenson (94%) Tyler Sirois (94%) Linda Chaney (94%) Lauren Melo (94%) Shane Abbott (91%) Thad Altman (91%) Robert Andrade (91%) Jessica Baker (91%) Doug Bankson (91%) Webster Barnaby (91%) Kimberly Berfield (91%) Dean Black (91%) David Borrero (91%) Adam Bontana (91%) Jennifer Canady (91%) Tiffany Esposito (91%) Tom Fabricio (91%) Juan Fernandez-Barquin (91%) Alina Garcia (91%) Sam Garrison (91%) Mike Giallombardo (91%) Michael Grant (91%) Tommy Gregory (91%) Fred Hawkins (91%) Thomas Leek (91%) Randall Maggard (91%) Thomas Maney (91%) Stan McClain (91%) Kiyan Michael (91%) Tobin Overdorf (91%) Bobby Payne (91%) Daniel Perez (91%) Rachel Saunders Plakon (91%) Juan Carlos Porras (91%) Paul Renner (91%) Alex Rizo (91%) Spencer Roach (91%) Joel Rudman (91%) Jason Shoaf (91%) John Snyder (91%) John Temple (91%) Josie Tomkow (91%) Dana Trabulsy (91%) Chase Tramont (91%) Keith Truenow (91%) Kaylee Tuck (91%) Taylor Yarkosky (91%) Danny Alvarez (90%) Carolina Amesty (90%) Robert Brackett (90%) James Buchanan (90%) Chuck Clemons (90%) Wyman Duggan (90%) Lawrence McClure (90%) Brad Yeager (90%) Mike Beltran (90%) Jim Mooney (90%) Paula Stark (90%) Kevin Steele (90%) Additionally, many lawmakers in the Florida State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session. Their names are highlighted in gray on the scorecard. The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Florida promote school choice, protect children from radical gender ideology, and improve election security. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Florida legislature. The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area. • CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp responds to YouTube banning President Trump’s CPAC speech – again

CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp responds to YouTube banning President Trump’s CPAC speech – again CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp responds to YouTube banning President Trump’s CPAC speech – again CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp released the following letter sent to Sundar Pichai, CEO of YouTube’s parent company Alphabet, after the Big Tech platform once again banned President Donald J. Trump’s speech. President Trump’s full speech can be viewed here . Dear Mr. Pichai: Once again, Google has chosen to play politics and censor, using its market dominant position to do so. While we are disappointed, we are not surprised. I recently learned that you have inappropriately taken down CPAC’s entire Saturday, February 26th livestream content from our recent conference in Orlando, Florida. In addition, you issued CPAC a “strike” for citing “mis-information” regarding the 2020 presidential election. Regardless of your personal beliefs and those of your senior leadership (not to mention your absolute liberal bias), there remain very serious questions about the way the 2020 election was conducted. Removing our content does not erase those questions, no matter how hard you try. Indeed, it is telling you offer no evidence that would demonstrate any falsity in the content you censored. Moreover, your action was needlessly indiscriminate. Aside from a discussion of the 2020 election, topics you censored include: Putin’s thuggery, the rise of antisemitism, and the need to value all human life. But I guess those concepts can be sacrificed on the altar of Orwellian political correctness. How ironic that during a dangerous time when autocrats like Vladimir Putin deny free people their rights in Russia and the Ukraine, Google would act similarly to stifle differing perspectives here at home. We all lament the destruction of civil discourse. But make no mistake, Google’s actions to suppress freedom of speech, thought and expression are what truly destroys civil discourse. It is when people are not allowed to express themselves freely that they take matters into their own hands. Such treatment of Americans cannot stand. CPAC will appropriately use its voice to urge conservatives in state capitals across the country, and the new majority in Congress come November – to pursue appropriate government regulation and legislation to hold Google accountable for its censorship. Neither Google nor its YouTube subsidiary can be allowed to run roughshod over the rights of Americans who are simply voicing their political beliefs. Matt Schlapp CPAC Chairman NEWS & RELEASES . • ACU Joins Former President Donald J. Trump’s Effort to Take on Big Tech

ACU Joins Former President Donald J. Trump’s Effort to Take on Big Tech ACU Joins Former President Donald J. Trump’s Effort to Take on Big Tech Dallas, TX — The American Conservative Union (ACU) announced on Wednesday that it is joining several leading center-right organizations in a class-action lawsuit against the Big Tech oligopoly. The lawsuit was filed by representatives of former President Donald Trump and the America First Policy Institute. ACU hosts the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). The suit states that Google, Facebook, and Twitter have harmed ACU and other plaintiffs by systematically censoring its social media content. “It is my honor to stand alongside President Trump and the brave citizens from across the country who had the courage to stand up to Big Tech, even though they have little power, except for their rights enshrined in the Constitution, including the First Amendment, which is the birthright of every American,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “This lawsuit will break the stranglehold Big Tech has over our freedom to speak.” John P. Coale, lead counsel for President Trump’s major class-action against Big Tech, will appear at CPAC 2021 on Saturday, July 10th to give update on the thousands of people who are joining the lawsuit. ACU notes that Google wrongfully removed videos of the CPAC 2021 conference. Prior to the videos of President Donald Trump’s CPAC 2021 speech being removed by Google, they had received 31 million views on Google’s YouTube platform. YouTube representatives told ACU that the speech was removed because ACU did not offer context on what YouTube determined to be “election disinformation.” ACU also notes that in April 2016, Facebook suppressed CPAC 2015 content from its trending section. Gizmodo reported that a Facebook contractor “decided that there was too much CPAC content in the news, so prevented coverage from entering the conversation.” ACU also notes that its various Twitter accounts lost more than 11,000 followers in just six months, and ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp’s account lost roughly 47,000 followers in just eight days in early 2021. Twitter offered no explanation of any of these cases of missing followers; however, it is clear that Twitter is “shadow-banning” ACU’s content. During the 2018 midterm elections, Facebook removed several of ACU’s digital ads, asserting that the content was in violation of their “community standards.” ACU contacted a Facebook representative, who told ACU that the discontinuation of the ads was based on the inclusion of an image of Kathy Griffin holding up a prop of the bloodied head of Donald Trump. ACU edited out the image, and the ads were allowed to proceed; however other users such as NowThis Politics, Yahoo News, TMZ and dozens of other Facebook users have racked up millions of views on posts containing that same image. ACU has urged Americans to contact their offices with information about the ways Big Tech has restricted their First Amendment rights in hopes of advancing the lawsuit and ending censorship online. ### NEWS & RELEASES .
