  • Statement from CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp on the Indictment of President Trump

Statement from CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp on the Indictment of President Trump Statement from CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp on the Indictment of President Trump “We are appalled and strongly condemn the abuse of power coming from the New York District Attorney. Americans have lost confidence in institutions and government experts because truth has become a casualty to raw political power. The renewed prosecutorial pursuit and indictmentof President Trump is an outrageous breach of constitutional norms and a continuation of his maniacal political prosecution. We believe that the authoritarian punishment of political opponents is deeply un-American and is more akin to the proceedings of a Kangaroo court in a corrupt Third World Banana Republic. For too long now our justice system has been at the disposal of unhinged bureaucrats, overzealous activist judges, and radicalized individuals who have transformed the institutions of our nation into political weapons. Without the proper countermeasures, the Left will continue to wield our judicial system against its opponents and further de-legitimize our democracy. President Donald J. Trump is not the first victim of this abuse, and he will certainly not be the last.” ### NEWS & RELEASES . Based on CPAC Ratings, Harris-Walz Ticket Most Radical In Democrat Party History Based on CPAC Ratings, Harris-Walz Ticket Most Radical In Democrat Party History ALEXANDRIA, VA (August 6, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals the radical far-left agenda behind Kamala Harris’ VP pick, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. “The Democrat Party now has the most radical Presidential ticket in the history of modern politics,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “ Kamala Harris (CPAC Lifetime 4.45%) and Tim Walz (CPAC Lifetime 6.95%) will be a disaster for the prosperity and freedoms Americans deserve.” Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (CPAC Lifetime 6.95%) : Gov. Walz’ legislative score is impacted by signing legislation giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, making it easier for individuals to join a permanent absentee ballot list and for making Minnesota a sanctuary state for child sex change surgeries and abortionists. Walz executive action includes establishing a DEI council as his very first executive order and allowing legal liability against child counselors if they do not “affirm” a child’s chosen gender identity. Gov. Walz fiscal score is influenced by growing the state budget by 42% since taking office. CPAC Foundation’s Ratings of the Governors is designed to consider the full scope of a governors’ record. The methodology is divided into three sections that evaluate different aspects of the governors’ performance. The legislative section focuses on the bills that the governor signs and vetoes and makes up 50% of the score. The Executive Action section focuses on the executive orders issued by the governor and other major activities that the governor engages in and represents 40% of the score. The Fiscal section evaluates the governors’ actions with regard to the state budget and represents 10% of the final score. Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) received a 6.95%, the lowest of all the contenders on Kamala Harris’ VP shortlist. Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY) scored a 15.00% and Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) received a 14.60% (all scores out of 100%). The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. CPAC Foundation produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and is the only organization in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area. CPAC Foundation’s Ratings are widely considered the “gold standard” and are utilized by activists, voters, academics and elected officials to determine which lawmakers best adhere to conservative principles. • Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on President Biden’s 2023 State of the Union Address

Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on President Biden’s 2023 State of the Union Address Coalition Against Socialized Medicine Statement on President Biden’s 2023 State of the Union Address ALEXANDRIA, VA, February 9, 2023 – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative and free-market groups such as the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC), Heritage Action, FreedomWorks, the National Taxpayers Union, the Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, has issued the following statement on President Biden’s 2023 State of the Union address, attributable to Jack Kalavritinos, Executive Director of CASM: “The President’s speech was little more than a love note to Big Government. But whether it is a failing Postal Service, a bankrupt Amtrak, or a non-functioning Transportation Department, Americans see where the Biden approach takes us: a bloated and ineffective government that puts politics ahead of people. His remarks on the so-called Inflation ‘Reduction’ Act are a perfect example of his misguided approach to governing. The pork-laden bill raids Medicare to pay for unrelated liberal programs while waylaying America’s healthcare system with price controls, red tape, and regulation. Thousands of federal bureaucrats are slowly strangling what was once the world’s finest healthcare delivery system thanks to President Biden and his “crowning legislative achievement.” He holds this legislation up as a success when in reality it is an abject failure.Within just four months of passing the Inflation ‘Reduction’ Act, its true effects are already becoming clear, with research and development already canceled on several promising new treatments for cancer and other diseases because of Biden-imposed government price setting and regulations. Provision of the new law could prevent more than 100 new drugs and treatments from being made available due to the impact of heavy-handed federal price control regulation. More than 600,000 jobs in the healthcare industry are now at risk. All the while, fewer than half of all Americans think U.S. healthcare quality is excellent or good, according to recent polls. We deserve a competitive healthcare market that fosters medical innovation, drives down prices, and increases the quality and availability of life-saving treatments. Unfortunately, Biden Bureaucrats are taking us in the opposite direction.Americans see the SOTU as an annual rite of promises and platitudes, and of gross exaggeration and gas-lighting. Last night was no exception. But what was noteworthy was that the President doubled down on his strategy of Big Government regulation and more control of the healthcare space by federal bureaucrats. This despite overwhelming evidence that more regulation equates to fewer lifesaving discoveries in healthcare. The solution is not more regulation as President Biden proposes. Rather, it is using market forces to improve healthcare delivery.Thankfully, the President’s agenda is dead on arrival with Republicans controlling the House of Representatives.” ### NEWS & RELEASES . • CPAC Support of Historic Tax Relief in Missouri

CPAC Support of Historic Tax Relief in Missouri CPAC Support of Historic Tax Relief in Missouri Alexandria, VA — David H. Safavian, CPAC General Counsel and Senior Vice President sent the following letter to express CPAC’s support of HCS SS SCS SBs 3 & 5. Dear Representative, As the failed policies of the Biden administration continue to cause rampant inflation and shrink the United States economy, families across America need real relief that grows the economy. As such, the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) supports HCS SS SCS SBs 3 & 5 to provide meaningful tax reform for Missourians. Specifically, HCS SS SCS SBs 3 & 5 would reduce the top rate of individual income tax to 4.95% beginning with the 2023 calendar year; add an additional 0.15% reduction upon meeting a revenue trigger; authorize three additional 0.1% reductions upon meeting other revenue triggers; and exempt taxpayers’ first $1,000 of income (an increase from the current first $100). Currently, Missouri has the 26th highest top income tax rate on individuals in the United States. With the passage of this bill, at the onset of 2023, Missouri will improve their standing to the 16th lowest, and 13th lowest when the bill is fully implemented. Enacting these bills would greatly increase Missouri’s competitiveness in attracting investment to the state. Because tax burdens have significant consequences for all Americans, we have recommended to our sister organization, the CPAC Foundation Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), to positively score these bills. As such, a vote in favor of HC SSS SCS SBs 3 & 5 to provide meaningful tax relief would increase your CPAC legislative rating. Through both its Ratings of Congress and Ratings of the States, the CLA has held lawmakers accountable by scoring them on legislation that impacts taxation. CPAC will continue to monitor policy proposals that make their way through the legislature. We ask you to stand strong and provide Missouri taxpayers with meaningful tax relief. Respectfully, David H. Safavian General Counsel and Senior Vice President ### Read the letter here . Update : Passed 09/29/22: Missouri passes HC SSS SCS SBs 3 & 5 NEWS & RELEASES . • Hong Kong Statement

Hong Kong Statement Hong Kong Statement China is attacking freedoms in Hong Kong. The Chinese imposed National Security Law is being used against pro-democracy warriors who are fighting for freedom. We met Benny Tai in 2019 when CPAC traveled to Hong Kong to support the pro-freedom movement. Benny Tai and the others arrested are putting their lives on the line as they stood up for democracy. The government of Hong Kong, controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), wants to silence the will of the people. Because of Benny Tai and the courageous 47, a light is shining on the injustices imposed by the totalitarian government. CPAC will always support those who put their lives on the line for freedom. Under the new Trump administration, bad actors like the CCP will be put on notice that all people, not just Americans, deserve their voices to be heard. As our international movement grows, we will bring these stories out from the shadows and put the world on notice that there is change coming. NEWS & RELEASES .
