Vermont Lawmakers Ranked 5th Most Liberal – New 50 State Analysis CPAC Presents 95 Lawmakers “Coalition of Radical Left” Awards ALEXANDRIA, VA (October 13, 2022) — The voting of Vermont’s state lawmakers has placed the legislature as the 5th most liberal in America according to a new 50 state analysis conducted by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), a project of CPAC Foundation and the American Conservative Union Foundation. In CPAC’s analysis of all 7,400 state lawmakers in America, the Vermont legislature earned a conservative rating of 26%, tying New York and Maryland, and trailing only Hawaii (23%), Rhode Island (20%), and Massachusetts (15%) as most liberal in America. Only 3 Vermont Republican lawmakers earned CPAC’s highest Award for Conservative Excellence (90% and above conservative ratings), and 23 earned the Award for Conservative Achievement (80-89% conservative ratings). An astounding 95 lawmakers earned CPAC’s “Coalition of the Radical Left” award for conservative ratings of 10% or below. The conservative rating is calculated through CPAC’s scorecards and is based on lawmaker voting across 186 policy areas ranging from cultural and life issues to tax, fiscal, and regulatory policies. Each year the CLA tallies over 260,000 votes to generate the scores. Hodges . Rather, it is a trojan horse that will be used to decimate religious liberty. This legislation would force people of faith and religious-affiliated institutions to violate their sincerely-held beliefs. Those individuals who choose to adhere to tenets of their faith and moral convictions would face costly litigation. And for religious-affiliated institutions, the legislation would empower President Biden’s politicized IRS to threaten their tax-exempt status. These are not theoretical issues. ACU Foundation Releases Scores of Delaware General Assembly Delaware’s Coalition of Radical Left Adds More State Lawmakers Alexandria, VA— Delaware is home to five more members of the Coalition of the Radical Left , as seven lawmakers earned conservative scores of 10% or below, up from just two lawmakers in the previous session. Only one lawmaker, Rep. Richard Collins, qualified as a conservative, according to the just-released ratings of the 2019 session published by The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF), host of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). The state’s overall conservative score fell nearly five points (from 37.17% to 32.46%) while lawmakers of both parties turned in scores for 2019 below their lifetime averages (4.55% average decline). This new leftward trend follows the election of three representatives who replaced more moderate Democrats, either by primary challenge or retirement. In each instance, the incoming freshman earned a more liberal score than their predecessor by 8 points or more. “Delaware is encountering dangerous territory as more state lawmakers have demonstrated they are susceptible to socialist ideas that erode our constitutional principles,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “In 2019 alone, the socialist policies enacted by once-moderate Democrats have resulted in higher health insurance costs, weakened election integrity and a loss of individual liberties. Meanwhile, Democrats earned their lowest scores in over a decade, experiencing a 23-point drop from the previous session. Trump’s speech. President Trump’s full speech can be viewed here . Dear Mr. Pichai: Once again, Google has chosen to play politics and censor, using its market dominant position to do so. While we are disappointed, we are not surprised. I recently learned that you have inappropriately taken down CPAC’s entire Saturday, February 26th livestream content from our recent conference in Orlando, Florida. In addition, you issued CPAC a “strike” for citing “mis-information” regarding the 2020 presidential election. Regardless of your personal beliefs and those of your senior leadership (not to mention your absolute liberal bias), there remain very serious questions about the way the 2020 election was conducted. Removing our content does not erase those questions, no matter how hard you try. Indeed, it is telling you offer no evidence that would demonstrate any falsity in the content you censored. Moreover, your action was needlessly indiscriminate. Aside from a discussion of the 2020 election, topics you censored include: Putin’s thuggery, the rise of antisemitism, and the need to value all human life. But I guess those concepts can be sacrificed on the altar of Orwellian political correctness. How ironic that during a dangerous time when autocrats like Vladimir Putin deny free people their rights in Russia and the Ukraine, Google would act similarly to stifle differing perspectives here at home. We all lament the destruction of civil discourse. But make no mistake, Google’s actions to suppress freedom of speech, thought and expression are what truly destroys civil discourse. It is when people are not allowed to express themselves freely that they take matters into their own hands. Such treatment of Americans cannot stand. CPAC will appropriately use its voice to urge conservatives in state capitals across the country, and the new majority in Congress come November – to pursue appropriate government regulation and legislation to hold Google accountable for its censorship.
