Jack Kalavritinos op-ed for RealClearHealth: Rx Price Controls Won’t Help Americans Jack Kalavritinos op-ed for RealClearHealth: Rx Price Controls Won’t Help Americans Jack Kalavritinos, Executive Director of the Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), has a new column in RealClearHealth where he points out that resurrecting old, failed policies won’t help Democrats prospects in the midterms. Democrats are desperate to show American voters that they are doing something—anything—before November and the expected red wave. But resurrecting old, failed ideas won’t help Americans. The legislative clock is running out because the general consensus is that Democrats will lose big in the midterm elections, and their efforts to overhaul the role of government as we know it will be shelved. There’s no chance that the torrent of government spending on social programs and green energy subsidies will continue once the House and Senate are no longer controlled by the far left of the Democratic Party. - CPAC Releases Mississippi Legislative Scorecard, Revealing a Disappointingly Predictable Lack of Fiscal Responsibility.
CPAC Releases Mississippi Legislative Scorecard, Revealing a Disappointingly Predictable Lack of Fiscal Responsibility. CPAC Releases Mississippi Legislative Scorecard, Revealing a Disappointingly Predictable Lack of Fiscal Responsibility. ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 4, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s latest analysis reveals that Mississippi continued its trend of passing financially irresponsible bills, garnering the legislature low scores consonant with its performance in previous years. The combination of this legislation and a relative lack of conservative bills earned Republicans an average of only 61%. SEE SCORECARD HERE “Mississippi’s legislature earned one of the lowest average ratings among Republican controlled states.” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Despite having a sizeable majority over Democrats, Mississippian Republicans allow themselves to become steeped in cronyism while only addressing some of the major conservative issues of the day.” The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Mississippi address government spending, parental rights in education, and Second Amendment freedoms. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Mississippi legislature. The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area. California Legislature Continues Plunge in 50 State Conservative Rankings Election Results Spell Further Trouble for California Conservatives ALEXANDRIA, VA (November 28, 2022) — The voting of California’s state lawmakers is trending much more progressive, dropping the state 3 spots in a new 50 state analysis conducted by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), a project of CPAC Foundation and the American Conservative Union Foundation. In the CLA’s analysis of all 7,400 state lawmakers across America, the California legislature earned a conservative rating of a mere 24% (dropping the state from the #44 to the #47 spot in the rankings). California trails only Rhode Island (20%), Hawaii (19%) and Massachusetts (15%) as most liberal in America. This past election is likely to only worsen the plunge due to the projected flip of Republican seats to Democrat in the state Assembly. The conservative rating is calculated on lawmaker voting across 186 policy areas ranging from cultural and life issues to tax, fiscal, and regulatory policies. Each year the CLA tallies over 320,000 votes to generate the scores and 50 state rankings. Only 17 California Republican lawmakers earned awards from CPAC for earning conservative ratings of 80% and above. However, an astounding 72 lawmakers earned CPAC’s “Coalition of the Radical Left” award for conservative ratings of 10% or below.
