- The Hill: Op-Ed by ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp
The Hill: Op-Ed by ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp The Hill: Op-Ed by ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp Biden’s Leadership is Threatened by His Loyalty to the Hard Left As President Biden begins his post-100-days agenda, his biggest challenge is that despite good topline poll numbers, many of his major policies are substantially unpopular. Biden is shortening his honeymoon not because of personal unpopularity but due to an unusual fidelity to the most destructive and unsavory policies emanating from the base of his party, which is smitten with Americanized socialism. Presidents know they need to stay near or above the 50 percent approval threshold to have a shot at reelection. Although the Gallup poll has been consistently inaccurate on presidential numbers in recent years, it has a long record of presidential approvals. Since 1980, only George W. Bush was reelected below 50 percent approval , but his final number before the election was 48 percent. No one below his number, including his father and President Trump , was sworn in for a second term. Trump’s approvals were notoriously hard to poll, as many of his supporters refused to engage pollsters due to repercussions of being for “MAGA.” Both the approvals of Presidents Obama and Biden were often graded on the curve, due to the near-universal embrace by media, Hollywood and now, tragically, the woke capitalism of mostly white C-suites and CEOs. - CPAC Releases Wisconsin Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Conservative Legislation Defeated by Socialist Democrat Governor Tony Evers.
CPAC Releases Wisconsin Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Conservative Legislation Defeated by Socialist Democrat Governor Tony Evers. CPAC Releases Wisconsin Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Conservative Legislation Defeated by Socialist Democrat Governor Tony Evers. ALEXANDRIA, VA (March 7, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals Wisconsin’s Republican and Democrat legislators both tend to vote in lockstep with their fellow party members on the vast majority of the bills voted on during the past session. Additionally, most of the deviations from this score occurred merely as a result of some legislators being absent for particular votes. SEE SCORECARD HERE “Wisconsin’s socialist Governor Tony Evers thwarted the strong efforts of Wisconsin’s GOP-controlled legislature last session.” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Gov. Evers vetoed restrictions on ballot harvesting, important welfare reform, and even a bill which protected minors from radical gender surgeries.” CPAC recognizes several Wisconsin state legislators for their conservative voting records. Members that earned an Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position 90% or more of the time can be found highlighted in gold on the scorecard. Members that earned an Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position 80% or more of the time can be found highlighted in silver on the scorecard. The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Wisconsin address election security, school choice, and the ‘green’ energy agenda. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Wisconsin legislature. The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area. - Removed: Video of Former President Donald J. Trump’s Major Class Action Against Big Tech
Removed: Video of Former President Donald J. Trump’s Major Class Action Against Big Tech Removed: Video of Former President Donald J. Trump’s Major Class Action Against Big Tech Removed: Video of Former President Donald J. Trump’s Major Class Action Against Big Tech Dallas, TX: The American Conservative Union (ACU) has learned that a recent episode of its “America UnCanceled” program on the CPAC NOW network has been removed by YouTube. The episode featured coverage of former President Donald Trump’s major class-action lawsuit against Big Tech, led by America First Policy Institute. ACU is a plaintiff to the lawsuit. “It is clear that YouTube censored CPAC because we stood with former President Donald Trump on his lawsuit against Big Tech,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “This is yet another example of Big Tech censoring content with which they disagree in order to promote the political positions they favor.” YouTube issued a strike against ACU’s YouTube account on July 9th and banned the organization from posting for one week. As a result, YouTube has prevented ACU from sharing content from CPAC 2021 Part 2 in Dallas, Texas, including former President Donald Trump’s speech on Sunday, July 11. In an email to ACU, YouTube cited “medical misinformation” concerning COVID-19 as the reason for removing the America UnCanceled episode. YouTube did not specify any statements made in the video that allegedly violated their policies. ACU believes YouTube was offended by sound medical research conducted by the Smith Center for Infectious Diseases & Urban Health and Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Former President Donald Trump referenced the study in the video that YouTube removed, saying, “doctors and medical groups have been barred from these platforms for posting about therapeutics such as hydroxychloroquine…now, most recent studies say [the drug is] effective in combating the virus.” Clearly, Google’s political biases heavily influence YouTube’s definitions of “misinformation” and that the political beliefs of Google executives take priority over the free speech rights of Google users. ### NEWS & RELEASES . (FL-17): “CPAC strongly supports Rep. Steube’s Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. Failure to pass such legislation has severe consequences, including taking away roster spots, records, and future scholarships from young women. - CPAC urges South Carolina’s Senate to pass SB 531/HB 4608
CPAC urges South Carolina’s Senate to pass SB 531/HB 4608 CPAC urges South Carolina’s Senate to pass SB 531/HB 4608 The Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) sent the following letter to South Carolina senators in support of SB 531/HB 4608, legislation which protects the integrity of women’s sports. Dear State Senator: Across the country we have seen the radical gender politics of the Woke Left infiltrate all facets of our lives. We at the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) have been pushing for legislation throughout the country which protects the integrity of women’s sports. Failure to pass such legislation has severe consequences, including taking away roster spots, records, and future scholarships from young women. It also sends a message to our adversaries that enough political pressure by their henchmen can turn the whole country into their woke nightmare. Fourteen states have already passed laws aimed at combating the woke gender policies damaging women’s sports. Americans everywhere are tired of organizations like the NCAA pushing their left-wing agenda against the will of the people. As such, we view SB 531/HB 4608 as common-sense legislation meant to protect opportunities for women. Accordingly, CPAC strongly supports SB 531/HB 4608 . We have recommended to our colleagues at the American Conservative Union Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability (Ratings) that they score legislation protecting women’s sports positively in their 2022 ratings. Thank you for your service in the legislature. – Conservative Political Action Coalition Take Action Tell your senators to save women’s sports! Sign our petition here . NEWS & RELEASES . Mercedes Schlapp in Fox News: Jill Biden’s ‘breakfast tacos’ remark was not a gaffe Mercedes Schlapp in Fox News: Jill Biden’s ‘breakfast tacos’ remark was not a gaffe In a new column for FoxNews.com , CPAC Foundation Senior Fellow Mercedes Schlapp talks about First lady Jill Biden’s comments at her Texas speech and how they were disrespectful and insulting to Hispanics. First lady Jill Biden traveled to one of the most populous Hispanic communities in America on Monday to tell Latinos that all we are good for is our breakfast tacos and bodegas. Mrs. Biden’s inflammatory and offensive rhetoric about Hispanic diversity in San Antonio, Texas was not a gaffe. It is another example of the Biden administration’s insensitive, bullying and politically divisive attacks on minorities in America. The White House rigorously reviews and scrutinizes all public remarks prepared for the president and first lady. Yet Biden’s protectors in the leftwing media say that the words Jill read from a Teleprompter “didn’t come out correctly.” Read more on FoxNews.com NEWS & RELEASES . - CPAC Congratulates the Senate on Passing the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB)
CPAC Congratulates the Senate on Passing the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) CPAC Congratulates the Senate on Passing the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) The Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) proudly congratulates the United States Senate on passing the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB)—a historic piece of legislation that stands to deliver long-overdue tax relief to millions of working families, fuel sustained economic growth, and restore fiscal sanity by tackling our nation’s runaway deficit. This bold, commonsense agenda would not have been possible without the decisive leadership of President Trump, whose unwavering commitment to America’s families, small businesses, and future generations made this achievement a reality. CPAC stands firmly with President Trump and the lawmakers who fought to advance this vision. Despite predictable misinformation campaigns from the left and their media allies, the facts are clear: the OBBB provides overwhelming tax relief to the working class and small businesses—the true backbone of our economy. By reducing burdensome taxes and driving new investment, this bill gives Main Street businesses the tools they need to hire, grow, and compete, strengthening communities nationwide. The OBBB also takes long-overdue steps to streamline Washington’s bloated bureaucracy. By cutting waste and refocusing federal spending, the bill reins in reckless habits that have burdened taxpayers for decades, putting America on a far more responsible fiscal path. Most critically, this legislation brings essential sanity to the border crisis unleashed by the Biden Administration. By tightening enforcement and closing dangerous loopholes, the bill helps protect tens of thousands of vulnerable people from exploitation by human traffickers, while restoring order and security at our southern border. CPAC congratulates the Senate for taking this consequential step. When the final vote arrives in Congress, we will hold every member accountable—because America’s families, small businesses, and future generations deserve nothing less. The House and Senate must negotiate with lightning speed and get this to the desk of President Trump ASAP. NEWS & RELEASES . CPAC Releases Arkansas Legislative Scorecard, Revealing a State Overflowing with Strong Conservative Policy. CPAC Releases Arkansas Legislative Scorecard, Revealing a State Overflowing with Strong Conservative Policy. ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 23, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s latest analysis reveals that Democrat legislators in Maine averaged scores of about 1%. This low rating represents the culmination of a number of extremely progressive policies, including a bills that incentivize illegal immigration, diminish parental rights, and potentially transform the government into a weapon against conservatives itself through lawfare. SEE SCORECARD HERE “Maine voters should be asking themselves, ‘When will this extremism be enough?’” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Maine’s Democrat legislators passed laws that allow minors to receive radical gender care without parental consent, gave health care to illegal immigrants, and that prevents employers from monitoring their own workplace.” Maine has many legislators recognized by CPAC for their conservative voting records based on a just-released analysis from CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability. The following members of the Maine State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session Senate: Bradlee Farrin (100%) Stacey Guerin (100%) Matthew Harrington (100%) Peter Lyford (100%) Jeffrey Timberlake (100%) Marianne Moore (95%) Harold Stewart (95%) House: Barbara Bagshaw (100%) Larry Dunphy (100%) Steven Foster (100%) Ann Marie Fredericks (100%) Irene Gifford (100%) Thomas Lavigne (100%) Laurel Libby (100%) Sheila Lyman (100%) Richard Mason (100%) Reagan Paul (100%) Kimberly Pomerleau (100%) Tracy Quint (100%) Heidi Sampson (100%) Tammy Schmersal-Burgess (100%) Michael Soboleski (100%) Gregory Swallow (100%) Joseph Underwood (100%) David Woodsome (100%) Rachel Ann Henderson (95%) Donald Ardell (95%) Scott Cyrway (95%) Kenneth Davis (95%) Abigail Griffin (95%) Joshua Morris (95%) Chad Perkins (95%) Ed Polewarczyk (95%) James Lee White (95%) Richard Campbell (94%) Caleb Ness (94%) Danny Costain (94%) Gary Drinkwater (94%) David Haggan (94%) Benjamin Hymes (94%) Katrina Smith (94%) Daniel Newman (94%) Additionally, a few lawmakers in the Maine State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session. The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Maine expanded handouts for electric vehicles, increased workplace mandates, and increased welfare spending.
