- CPAC STATEMENT ON TRUMP V. UNITED STATES - THE DECISION DOES NOT GO FAR ENOUGH
CPAC STATEMENT ON TRUMP V. UNITED STATES - THE DECISION DOES NOT GO FAR ENOUGH News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. CPAC STATEMENT ON TRUMP V. UNITED STATES - THE DECISION DOES NOT GO FAR ENOUGH The Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision has found that Presidents are granted immunity for ‘official’ acts taken during their time in office. In an era of lawfare by woke prosecutors and leftist plaintiffs, the decision makes perfect sense. America cannot have its commander-in-chief tied down by legal threats and litigation. Unfortunately, the decision does not go far enough. We have seen weaponization of the law by the Left in civil and criminal cases brought by the likes of Alvin Bragg, Jack Smith, Fani Willis, and E. Jean Carroll. Today’s decision would likely not reach insulate any chief executive by motivated vengeful litigants. This is not what our Founding Fathers warned us about. President George Washington warned in his farewell address warned: “the alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism.” Sadly, today’s decision allows President Donald J. Trump to be victimized by rogue prosecutors, hateful plaintiffs, and President Biden’s Department of Justice. The harm, however, goes beyond President Trump. We are now in a lawless era where blue states will lethality trample justice in order to get the outcome they want against any of their political opponents. Presidents of both parties could be subject to lawfare, putting our leaders and our Nation at risk. This ruling leaves America on a dangerous path. It puts us on the same level as Brazil, China, and the Korea’s where the party in power imprisons former elected leaders as a matter of course. If Presidents can be prosecuted, what stops Republicans going after President Biden (aka “the Big Guy”), for his corruption? It’s worth noting that Justice Clarence Thomas’ concurrence exposes the lengths the Department of Justice itself may be breaking the law in order to target President Trump. Specifically, Justice Thomas points out that Special Counsel Jack Smith is illegally appointed: “If there is no law establishing the office that the Special Counsel occupies, then he cannot proceed with this prosecution. A private citizen cannot criminally prosecute anyone, let alone a former President.” For the past three years, we have seen the Left’s striking assault of our Republic. Under today’s Supreme Court decision, political show trials will continue. NEWS & RELEASES . CASM Appoints Jack Kalavritinos as Executive Director News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. CASM Appoints Jack Kalavritinos as Executive Director Alexandria, VA – The Coalition Against Socialized Medicine (CASM), a broad coalition of leading conservative and free-market groups including the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC), Heritage Action, FreedomWorks, the National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Citizens Against Government Waste, American Commitment, and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, today announced the appointment of Jack Kalavritinos as its new Executive Director. “Three years after CASM’s launch to counter the left’s attempts to socialize America’s health care system, whether through a full-scale government takeover like Medicare for All, or incremental steps like price controls under the guise of ‘negotiation,’ collective action to protect patient choice, innovation, and the economy is more critical than ever before,” said Kalavritinos. “I am eager to join the fight to safeguard our country from the dire consequences of the far left’s socialized medicine agenda and promote free market solutions that increase access and drive the cures and treatments of tomorrow.” “We are grateful that Jack has agreed to lead CASM,” said Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Jack brings a wealth of knowledge in the health care space as years of history fighting in the trenches to advance free-market solutions to the challenges facing our nation. He will be a great asset to our coalition as it works to protect America’s patients and taxpayers from the far-left Biden-Pelosi-Sanders health care agenda.” Kalavritinos, who has more than 25 years of experience in public affairs and health communications, served as director for Intergovernmental and External Affairs for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and as the associate commissioner for External Affairs at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He spent over seven years at Medtronic on policy initiatives. He also served as a senior official at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and as the White House Liaison at the Department of Labor. Most recently, Kalavritinos advised clients on strategic communications, policy, and advocacy as part of JK Strategies and APCO Worldwide’s International Advisory Council. - CPAC Supports Vote to Dismiss Impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton
CPAC Supports Vote to Dismiss Impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. CPAC Supports Vote to Dismiss Impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton Much like the political prosecution currently happening in jurisdictions around the country of President Donald J. Trump, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is facing a similar battle, but this time originating from his own party. The charges put forth by leadership in the Texas legislature were adjudicated last election cycle. Millions of dollars in television, mail, and digital ads hit Attorney General Paxton for months in both the primary and general election. In the end, Attorney General Paxton came out victorious. The people of Texas, the real jurors in the case, decided that the leadership Attorney General Paxton has shown since being elected was worth another term in office. Attorney General Ken Paxton has been one of the strongest fighters against President Biden’s far left administration’s overreach. He also has won cases at the Supreme Court defending both Life and our southern border. Sadly, a small group of legislators are wielding their power to undo an election where the people of Texas made their voices heard and chose to keep Ken Paxton as their Attorney General. This is a misuse of power entrusted to our elected officials and should not stand. The Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) stands with Attorney General Ken Paxton. We will recommend to our sister organization, the CPAC Foundation’s Center to Legislative Accountability (Ratings), that a vote to dismiss this impeachment to be scored positively. # # # Contact: comms@conservative.org (202) 347-9388 NEWS & RELEASES . Removed: Video of Former President Donald J. Trump’s Major Class Action Against Big Tech Removed: Video of Former President Donald J. Trump’s Major Class Action Against Big Tech Dallas, TX: The American Conservative Union (ACU) has learned that a recent episode of its “America UnCanceled” program on the CPAC NOW network has been removed by YouTube. The episode featured coverage of former President Donald Trump’s major class-action lawsuit against Big Tech, led by America First Policy Institute. ACU is a plaintiff to the lawsuit. “It is clear that YouTube censored CPAC because we stood with former President Donald Trump on his lawsuit against Big Tech,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “This is yet another example of Big Tech censoring content with which they disagree in order to promote the political positions they favor.” YouTube issued a strike against ACU’s YouTube account on July 9th and banned the organization from posting for one week. As a result, YouTube has prevented ACU from sharing content from CPAC 2021 Part 2 in Dallas, Texas, including former President Donald Trump’s speech on Sunday, July 11. In an email to ACU, YouTube cited “medical misinformation” concerning COVID-19 as the reason for removing the America UnCanceled episode. YouTube did not specify any statements made in the video that allegedly violated their policies. ACU believes YouTube was offended by sound medical research conducted by the Smith Center for Infectious Diseases & Urban Health and Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Former President Donald Trump referenced the study in the video that YouTube removed, saying, “doctors and medical groups have been barred from these platforms for posting about therapeutics such as hydroxychloroquine…now, most recent studies say [the drug is] effective in combating the virus.” Clearly, Google’s political biases heavily influence YouTube’s definitions of “misinformation” and that the political beliefs of Google executives take priority over the free speech rights of Google users. ### NEWS & RELEASES .
