California Legislature Continues Plunge in 50 State Conservative Rankings The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), a project of CPAC Foundation and the American Conservative Union Foundation, conducts an annual, in-depth analysis to rate all 8,000 lawmakers in America, revealing their positions on a wide variety of issues directly affecting our communities and families. Check out the press release below with more details and please take action ! It only takes three minutes to let your legislators know that their score from the CPAC Foundation is important to you, and you expect them to support more conservative policies. California Legislature Continues Plunge in 50 State Conservative Rankings Election Results Spell Further Trouble for California Conservatives ALEXANDRIA, VA (November 28, 2022) — The voting of California’s state lawmakers is trending much more progressive, dropping the state 3 spots in a new 50 state analysis conducted by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), a project of CPAC Foundation and the American Conservative Union Foundation. In the CLA’s analysis of all 7,400 state lawmakers across America, the California legislature earned a conservative rating of a mere 24% (dropping the state from the #44 to the #47 spot in the rankings). California trails only Rhode Island (20%), Hawaii (19%) and Massachusetts (15%) as most liberal in America. This past election is likely to only worsen the plunge due to the projected flip of Republican seats to Democrat in the state Assembly. The conservative rating is calculated on lawmaker voting across 186 policy areas ranging from cultural and life issues to tax, fiscal, and regulatory policies. Each year the CLA tallies over 320,000 votes to generate the scores and 50 state rankings. Only 17 California Republican lawmakers earned awards from CPAC for earning conservative ratings of 80% and above. However, an astounding 72 lawmakers earned CPAC’s “Coalition of the Radical Left” award for conservative ratings of 10% or below. CALIFORNIA SCORECARD (Web Version) CALIFORNIA SCORECARD (PDF Version) The ratings have also been incorporated into CPAC’s new Lawmaker Comparison Tool which runs head-to-head comparisons on lawmaker’s strongest and weakest policy areas. The CLA is the first and only organization to annually publish individual ratings for all 8,000 federal and state lawmakers in America. The CLA is also home to the nation’s most comprehensive conservative policy database containing over 19,000 detailed bill analyses which span 50 years of Congress and all 50 state legislatures. As Director of our newfound CPAC Center for Combating Human Trafficking, Mr. Russo will lead policy efforts that address the needs of victims of trafficking, provide law enforcement the tools to hold traffickers accountable, and support cross collaboration between domestic and international partners to ensure that modern day slavery is brought to an end. The Nolan Center for Justice has become a trusted resource for the conservative perspective on justice reform issues since it was founded by Pat Nolan over a decade ago. Working to advance the core values of liberty, accountability, and fiscal responsibility – the Nolan Center is active in promoting policies that improve the safety of our communities, reduce wasteful government spending, support our law enforcement, and protect human dignity in our justice system. Removed: Video of Former President Donald J. Trump’s Major Class Action Against Big Tech Removed: Video of Former President Donald J. Trump’s Major Class Action Against Big Tech Dallas, TX: The American Conservative Union (ACU) has learned that a recent episode of its “America UnCanceled” program on the CPAC NOW network has been removed by YouTube. The episode featured coverage of former President Donald Trump’s major class-action lawsuit against Big Tech, led by America First Policy Institute. ACU is a plaintiff to the lawsuit. “It is clear that YouTube censored CPAC because we stood with former President Donald Trump on his lawsuit against Big Tech,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “This is yet another example of Big Tech censoring content with which they disagree in order to promote the political positions they favor.” YouTube issued a strike against ACU’s YouTube account on July 9th and banned the organization from posting for one week. As a result, YouTube has prevented ACU from sharing content from CPAC 2021 Part 2 in Dallas, Texas, including former President Donald Trump’s speech on Sunday, July 11. In an email to ACU, YouTube cited “medical misinformation” concerning COVID-19 as the reason for removing the America UnCanceled episode. YouTube did not specify any statements made in the video that allegedly violated their policies. ACU believes YouTube was offended by sound medical research conducted by the Smith Center for Infectious Diseases & Urban Health and Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Former President Donald Trump referenced the study in the video that YouTube removed, saying, “doctors and medical groups have been barred from these platforms for posting about therapeutics such as hydroxychloroquine…now, most recent studies say [the drug is] effective in combating the virus.” Clearly, Google’s political biases heavily influence YouTube’s definitions of “misinformation” and that the political beliefs of Google executives take priority over the free speech rights of Google users. ### NEWS & RELEASES . - ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Minnesota State Legislature
ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Minnesota State Legislature News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Minnesota State Legislature The Minnesota State Legislature has gotten more conservative over the past year, according to the American Conservative Union Foundation’s annual ratings of state legislatures. The American Conservative Union Foundation conducts an annual, in-depth analysis to rate all 8,000 lawmakers in America, revealing their positions on a wide variety of issues directly affecting our communities and families. Republicans in Minnesota stood strong and opposed Governor Walz’s excessively harsh economic lockdown. These lawmakers were a vital voice for economic freedom and personal liberty in the midst of heavy-handed government policies from the governor’s office. The state’s overall score improved by four points from last year, with the Minnesota House of Representatives leading the way in conservative leadership . The Minnesota legislature is moving in the right direction, and we need your help to keep it that way. Check out the press release below with more details and please take action ! It only takes three minutes to let your legislators know that their score from the American Conservative Union Foundation is important to you, and you expect them to support more conservative policies. New Minnesota Legislature Rises in Conservative Rankings in New Analysis Alexandria, VA—New analysis from ACUF, the host of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), reveals that the Minnesota Legislature will rise in ACUF’s rankings of the nation’s Most Conservative Legislatures. The improvement in Minnesota’s performance is partly due to a majority of lawmakers who opposed Governor Tim Walz’s economic shutdowns and restrictions of individual liberties. Review the scorecard to see the ratings of all Minnesota state lawmakers and find out which votes ACUF (American Conservative Union Foundation) scored. “After more than a year of shuttering businesses and banning children from learning in the classroom, Governor Walz has suggested that ‘normalcy is on the horizon,’ without actually lifting the lion’s share of his edicts,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “These vague and empty promises were never enough for conservatives of the Minnesota Legislature, who fought to restore individual liberties from the outset. We hope these lawmakers will apply this same tenacity to opposing the governor’s leftist spending proposals.” ACUF’s Ratings of Congress and Ratings of the States are initiatives of ACUF’s Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA). These ratings are designed to reflect how over 8,000 elected officials across the nation view the role of government while illustrating the differences between chambers of the legislature and revealing lawmakers’ positions on a wide variety of issues that directly affect citizens. ACU Foundation reviewed each piece of legislation voted on in both chambers of the legislature to produce average scores of each chamber as well as individual scores for each sitting member.
