Rhode Island Plunges in 50 State Conservative Rankings – 3rd Most Liberal CPAC Presents 52 Lawmakers “Coalition of Radical Left” Awards ALEXANDRIA, VA (October 18, 2022) — The voting of Rhode Island’s state lawmakers has become much more progressive, placing the legislature as the 3rd most liberal in America according to a new 50 state analysis conducted by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), a project of CPAC Foundation and the American Conservative Union Foundation. In CPAC’s analysis of all 7,400 state lawmakers in America, the Rhode Island legislature earned a conservative rating of a mere 20% (a significant drop from 24% in 2020). Rhode Island now only trails Hawaii (19%) and Massachusetts (15%) as most liberal in America. The conservative rating is calculated through CPAC’s scorecards and is based on lawmaker voting across 186 policy areas ranging from cultural and life issues to tax, fiscal, and regulatory policies. Each year the CLA tallies over 320,000 votes to generate the scores. Only 6 Rhode Island Republican lawmakers earned awards from CPAC for earning conservative ratings of 80% and above. However, an astounding 52 lawmakers earned CPAC’s “Coalition of the Radical Left” award for conservative ratings of 10% or below. RHODE ISLAND SCORECARD (Web Version) RHODE ISLAND SCORECARD (PDF Version) The ratings have also been incorporated into CPAC’s new Lawmaker Comparison Tool which runs head-to-head comparisons on lawmaker’s strongest and weakest policy areas. CPAC Releases Montana Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Strong Conservative Wins From the Treasure State. Montanan legislators passed positively rated bills touching all but 2 of the 17 overarching issues that the CLA rates, a major accomplishment that most red states did not achieve. The following members of the Montana State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session. • CPAC to Honor Conservative Champions at 54th Annual Congressional Ratings Ceremony

CPAC to Honor Conservative Champions at 54th Annual Congressional Ratings Ceremony News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. CPAC to Honor Conservative Champions at 54th Annual Congressional Ratings Ceremony FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, May 20, 2025 Contact: Hannah Stone (225) 329-3497 h annah@salemstrategiesllc.com Washington, DC (May 20, 2025) — The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Foundation will host its 54th Annual Ratings of Congress Award Ceremony on May 20, 2025, at 5:30 PM ET at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C. The event will celebrate the conservative lawmakers who stood strong in the face of pressure, voted with conviction, and earned top marks on the CPAC Foundation’s official scorecard—America’s gold standard for evaluating elected officials. Highlights from the 2025 Senate Scorecard Include: Conservative Excellence honorees include Senators Mike Lee, JD Vance, Ron Johnson, Rick Scott, and Roger Marshall, each earning a perfect 100% rating. The average Republican score in the Senate was 73%, while Democrats averaged just 6%, with many scoring below 10%. Key issues scored included votes on foreign aid, border security, abortion legislation, and federal spending. The scorecard reveals a growing rift within the GOP between strong conservative fighters and establishment moderates. “This ceremony isn’t just a celebration—it’s a line in the sand,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “We’re calling out those who delivered for the American people and holding accountable those who didn’t. Our country deserves leaders who stand up, not sell out.” Earlier today, President Trump’s visit to Capitol Hill underscored the urgency of the conservative agenda, as he echoed CPAC’s calls for bold leadership on border security, fiscal sanity, and cultural integrity—telling reporters that 'Republicans must fight like hell for the soul of our country.' His remarks serve as a powerful backdrop to tonight’s ceremony, which honors those doing exactly that. The ceremony will recognize Senators who received the Conservative Excellence Award (90% and above) and Conservative Achievement Award (80–89%), as well as House members who met the same criteria in CPAC’s corresponding House Scorecard. CPAC’s Ratings of Congress have served as the nation’s most respected legislative scorecard since 1971. Unlike many partisan ratings, CPAC’s analysis focuses on substantive legislative issues that impact everyday Americans—border security, life, limited government, and fiscal responsibility. In a year marked by record spending, border chaos, and aggressive cultural policy battles, CPAC’s scorecard reveals exactly who took a stand and who stood down. With votes tracked on issues ranging from the $95 billion foreign aid bill (H.R. 815) to radical abortion legislation (S. 4554), the Ratings of Congress expose what every American deserves to know: how their representatives are really voting behind closed doors. CPAC encourages all award recipients, members of Congress, staff, and media to attend this powerful evening to honor courage, leadership, and accountability. To RSVP, contact mbeardsley@conservative.org . Additional details will be provided upon confirmation. CPAC Statement on the Limit, Save, Grow Act News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. CPAC Statement on the Limit, Save, Grow Act Time and time again, too many republicans have waved the white flag on dealing with “must pass” legislation to fund the government or raise the debt limit, perpetuating a failed system that has left hard-working American Families with $31 Trillion dollars of debt. We applaud the new Republican Majority for addressing the problem head on with the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 sponsored by Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (CPAC Conservative 97% Lifetime Rating). Speaker Kevin McCarthy (CPAC Conservative 84% Lifetime Rating) deserves our support in his fight to hold the Biden administration accountable for their disastrous socialist policies. The Green New Deal, federal welfare programs, and overreaching regulation on businesses has led to rampant inflation, crushing American families. Since the new Republican majority has taken over the House of Representatives, we have seen a push to unleash American Energy, protect girls in sports, give parents a stronger voice in their child’s education, and hold reckless Soros prosecutors, like Alvin Bragg, accountable. It is now time to pass legislation that will begin to alleviate the stranglehold our massive national debt has on our nation. More can be accomplished if House Republicans continue to stand their ground. CPAC applauds the leaders in the House of Representatives who are fighting for American families by working to pass legislation that unleashes the American economy and gives power back to the people they were elected to serve. We will continue to recommend to our sister organization, the CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability (Ratings), to monitor the package and recommend they positively score a vote in favor of a package which prevents a ‘clean’ debt ceiling increase while delivering conservative policy solutions like those included in the introduced Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 . ### NEWS & RELEASES . • Statement on President Donald Trump’s Arraignment

Statement on President Donald Trump’s Arraignment News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. Statement on President Donald Trump’s Arraignment “Today’s events highlight the dangers of a so-called “justice” system that allows unaccountable prosecutors to put politics ahead of public safety. This is eye-opening for many conservatives, regardless of whether they support Donald J. Trump. When every aspect of life is governed by bureaucrats and regulations, and prosecutorial power is unchecked, it is all too easy to become a target. Soros-funded prosecutor Alvin Bragg campaigned in ultra-liberal Manhattan on investigating Trump. Desperate to fulfill his campaign promise, he searched high and low to find anything that could support a charge. Bragg then relied on testimony from a convicted liar to validate it. This is not how a fair justice system should work. Former Attorney General and Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson said the duty of a prosecutor is not to notch wins in court. Rather, the duty of a prosecutor is to seek justice. Alvin Bragg has failed in his duty. The Trump indictment is little more than politics dressed up as prosecution, and it should end. At a minimum, Bragg should recuse himself, given his Soros connections. And any further litigation should be moved to a venue where the President can be judged by an unbiased jury of his peers. If Trump can get a fair trial, we are confident he will be vindicated.” Matt Schlapp Chairman, CPAC David Safavian General Counsel, CPAC ### NEWS & RELEASES .
