Hong Kong Statement News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. Hong Kong Statement China is attacking freedoms in Hong Kong. The Chinese imposed National Security Law is being used against pro-democracy warriors who are fighting for freedom. We met Benny Tai in 2019 when CPAC traveled to Hong Kong to support the pro-freedom movement. Benny Tai and the others arrested are putting their lives on the line as they stood up for democracy. The government of Hong Kong, controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), wants to silence the will of the people. Because of Benny Tai and the courageous 47, a light is shining on the injustices imposed by the totalitarian government. CPAC will always support those who put their lives on the line for freedom. Under the new Trump administration, bad actors like the CCP will be put on notice that all people, not just Americans, deserve their voices to be heard. As our international movement grows, we will bring these stories out from the shadows and put the world on notice that there is change coming. NEWS & RELEASES . CPAC Releases South Dakota Legislative Scorecard, Exposing a Republican Legislature that Struggles to Pass Even the Mildest of Conservative Policies. ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 18, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s latest analysis reveals that South Dakotan Republicans fail to stick together on votes for conservative legislation, resulting in an average score around 73% across both chambers. Overall, Democrat averages remained around their lifetime average of 35%. SEE SCORECARD HERE “South Dakota’s legislators passed up opportunities to protect kids from radical gender ideology in schools, defeated reforms of the growing welfare state, and failed to pass other conservative priorities this past session," said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Among red states, South Dakota’s Republicans appear to be ‘asleep at the wheel.’” CPAC recognizes several South Dakota state legislators recognized by CPAC for their conservative voting records. The following members of the South Dakota State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session. Senate: Julie Frye-Mueller (100%) Tom Pischke (100%) Brent Hoffman (92%) Jim Stalzer (91%) House: Aaron Aylward (100%) Phil Jensen (100%) Karla Lems (100%) Tina Mulally (100%) Tony Randolph (100%) John Sjaarda (100%) Ben Krohmer (92%) Additionally, several lawmakers in the South Dakota State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session. Their names are highlighted in gray on the scorecard. The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of South Dakota address government spending, parental rights in education, and national security. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the South Dakota legislature. The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area. - ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Wisconsin State Legislature
ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Wisconsin State Legislature News & Releases Explore the latest updates, news, and product releases to stay informed and ahead of the curve. ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of Wisconsin State Legislature The Wisconsin State Legislature last year had one of the largest partisan divides in the country, according to the American Conservative Union Foundation’s annual ratings of state legislatures. That wide divide is the result of the Republicans in the state legislature becoming more conservative, while the Democrats have become more liberal, increasingly pushing misguided policies from Washington, DC. The American Conservative Union Foundation conducts an annual, in-depth analysis to rate all 8,000 lawmakers in America, revealing their positions on a wide variety of issues directly affecting our communities and families. The state’s overall score was a very modest average of 59 percent . Behind that number, however, is a more promising story about conservative victories in the state legislation, and all of the wins Republicans are achieving in Wisconsin. In the 2020 session, leftist lawmakers in the state undermined election integrity, while conservatives were largely united on this crucial issue as a paramount pillar of freedom in our society . We need your help to keep moving Wisconsin’s state legislature in the right direction. Check out the press release below with more details and please take action ! It only takes three minutes to let your legislators know that their score from the American Conservative Union Foundation is important to you, and you expect them to support more conservative policies. New Analysis Shows Wisconsin Legislature Sharply Divided on Party Lines Alexandria, VA—Lawmakers of the Wisconsin Legislature voted along party lines more frequently than nearly any legislature in the country, according to the just-released analysis published by The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF), host of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Review the scorecard to see the ratings of all Wisconsin state lawmakers and find out which votes ACUF scored. On average, Wisconsin state lawmakers earned a 58.49% conservative rating for the 2020 session, denoting a fairly moderate legislature. However, WisconsinRepublicans (88.5%) regularly top ACUF’s rankings of Republican conferences, while Wisconsin Democrats (11.95%) are tenth-most liberal, following Massachusetts, New York and others. Since 2018, the Wisconsin Legislature’s “partisan divide,” or the difference between the average score of each party, has topped ACUF’s national rankings of all 50 states. During the 2020 session, the partisan divide was 76.55%, once again ranking in the top five. “Our analysis shows that Wisconsin is one of the most deeply divided legislatures in the country,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “It is troubling to see so many of Wisconsin’s elected officials on the left try to tear down basic principles of election integrity or increase wasteful spending during an economic shutdown. Wisconsin’s partisan divide may continue to grow if liberals insist on such a radical agenda.” ACUF’s Ratings of Congress and Ratings of the States are initiatives of ACUF’s Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA). These ratings are designed to reflect how over 8,000 elected officials across the nation view the role of government while illustrating the differences between chambers of the legislature and revealing lawmakers’ positions on a wide variety of issues that directly affect citizens. ACU Foundation reviewed each piece of legislation voted on in both chambers of the legislature to produce average scores of each chamber as well as individual scores for each sitting member. CPAC Releases Texas Legislative Scorecard, Revealing the Lone Star State’s Efforts to Secure the Border. ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 31, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals a substantial divide in the conservatism of Texas’ House of Representatives and Senate. Senate Republicans were about 10% more conservative than House Republicans. Overall scores between both chambers also diverged by about 9%. These substantial disparities are in no small part attributable to a relatively more liberal party leadership in the House. SEE SCORECARD HERE “Texas conservatives face two major challenges: President Biden’s open border crisis and horrendous House leadership,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Thankfully, conservatives and clear-thinking Republicans pulled through with Gov. Greg Abbott and passed several border security bills and defeated Republican Speaker Dade Phelan’s (CPAC Lifetime Rating 76%) vindictive crusade against AG Ken Paxton.” CPAC recognizes several Texas state legislators for their conservative voting records. The following members of the Texas State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session: Senate: Bryan Hughes (100%) Mayes Middleton (100%) Bob Hall (92%) Lois Kolkhorst (92%) Charles Schwertner (92%) House: Brian Harrison (100%) Carrie Isaac (100%) Matt Schaefer (100%) Shelby Slawson (100%) Valoree Swanson (100%) Tony Tinderholt (100%) Steve Toth (100%) Terry Wilson (100%) Briscoe Cain (95%) Cody Vasut (95%) Nate Schatzline (95%) Matt Shaheen (94%) Terri Leo-Wilson (90%) Additionally, some lawmakers in the Texas State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session.
