Dear State Representative: In the 2020 presidential election, Americans saw a dramatic loosening of the chain of custody of ballots, indiscriminate use of mass mail-in voting and verification processes get pushed aside. California Legislature Continues Plunge in 50 State Conservative Rankings Election Results Spell Further Trouble for California Conservatives ALEXANDRIA, VA (November 28, 2022) — The voting of California’s state lawmakers is trending much more progressive, dropping the state 3 spots in a new 50 state analysis conducted by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), a project of CPAC Foundation and the American Conservative Union Foundation. In the CLA’s analysis of all 7,400 state lawmakers across America, the California legislature earned a conservative rating of a mere 24% (dropping the state from the #44 to the #47 spot in the rankings). California trails only Rhode Island (20%), Hawaii (19%) and Massachusetts (15%) as most liberal in America. This past election is likely to only worsen the plunge due to the projected flip of Republican seats to Democrat in the state Assembly. The conservative rating is calculated on lawmaker voting across 186 policy areas ranging from cultural and life issues to tax, fiscal, and regulatory policies. Each year the CLA tallies over 320,000 votes to generate the scores and 50 state rankings. Only 17 California Republican lawmakers earned awards from CPAC for earning conservative ratings of 80% and above. However, an astounding 72 lawmakers earned CPAC’s “Coalition of the Radical Left” award for conservative ratings of 10% or below. The analysis reviewed the voting records of over 8,000 elected officials across all 50 states, and found that only 23 percent of votes cast by Hawaii lawmakers were aligned with the conservative position. Matt Schlapp Statement in Support of Youngkin Tax Cut Proposal “Alexandria, VA — Matt Schlapp released the following statement in Support of Youngkin Tax Cut Proposal. “As the failed policies of the Biden administration continue to cause rampant inflation and shrink the United States economy, families across America need real relief that grows the economy. “As such, CPAC strongly supports Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s plan to provide meaningful tax cuts for Virginians. Under the proposal, the top income tax is reduced from 5.75% to 5.5%, which would save the average family of four $578 a year. In addition, the plan would make Virginia more competitive for businesses by lowering the corporate tax rate from 6% to 5%, while allowing a 10% business income tax deduction for small businesses. “Currently, Virginia has the 25th highest top income tax rate on individuals in the United States and the 20th lowest corporate tax rate. Under the proposal, Virginia would improve their standing to the 23rd lowest in individual income tax and tied for 14th lowest corporate tax rate. “With Gov. Youngkin’s successful leadership, the state’s rainy-day fund is on track to hit $4.2 billion by the end of fiscal 2024. Instead of spending increased tax revenue on duplicative government services, Gov.
