CPAC Releases Arizona Legislative Scorecard, Revealing the Most Divided Legislature in the Nation.
ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 23, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals the polarized state of Arizona’s legislature. The difference in scores between the Republican and Democrats members of the legislature are the largest of any state in the nation during the 2023 session. Additionally, 24 of the bills rated positively by CPAC were vetoed by Democrat Governor Hobbs, further exemplifying the divide between parties in Arizona.
“Governor Katie Hobbs’ record proves her to be an open border radical who supports drag shows for minors and will work to prevent any safeguards to elections in order to cling onto power,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp, “Last session made it clear that Governor Hobbs will stop at nothing to veto even the most sensible policies that arrive at her desk.”
CPAC recognizes several Arizona legislators for their conservative voting records. The following members of the Arizona State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session.

The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Arizona increased national security at the border, supported parental rights in education, decreased election fraud, and cut taxes. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and upholding the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Arizona legislature.
The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
