CPAC Releases Massachusetts Legislative Scorecard and Dubs it the Second Most Leftist State in the Nation.
ALEXANDRIA, VA (March 7, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals Massachusetts to be the second most liberal state in the nation. The state is only beaten by Hawaii, the likes of which has even fewer Republican legislators than Massachusetts.
“Socialist Democrat’s in Massachusetts took advantage of their first session with a Democrat Governor in 8 years to raise taxes and declare a fictitious ‘right to housing’ at the taxpayers’ expense,’” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “The result of these Marxist policies? Massachusetts now has a higher cost of living than even California or New York.”
CPAC recognizes several Massachusetts state legislators for their conservative voting records. The following members of the Massachusetts State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session:
Donald Berthiaum (83%)
Nicholas Boldyga (83%)
David DeCoste (83%)
Marc Lombardo (83%)
Kelly Pease (83%)
Michael Soter (83%)
Alyson Sullivan (83%)
Steve Xiarhos (83%)
Marcus Vaughn (82%)
The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Massachusetts address tax increases, ‘green’ energy mandates, and welfare expansion. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Massachusetts legislature.
The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
