“Lawmakers in Indiana have increasingly taken a conservative approach to governing, and it’s paying off for Hoosiers,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Their property rights are better protected, their Second Amendment is intact, and their secretary of state has new direction from the General Assembly on keeping the voter rolls clean from mistakes and fraud. We applaud Governor Holcomb and Indiana state lawmakers on their successful conservative solutions.”
In the 2020 Ratings of Indiana, the House surged to 60 awardees, adding 45 more awardees to the last year’s group. The overall conservative score of the House increased by 10 percentage points to 68%.

ACUF’s Ratings of Congress and Ratings of the States are initiatives of ACUF’s Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA). These ratings are designed to reflect how over 8,000 elected officials across the nation view the role of government while illustrating the differences between chambers of the legislature and revealing lawmakers’ positions on a wide variety of issues that directly affect citizens.
ACU Foundation reviewed each piece of legislation voted on in both chambers of the legislature to produce average scores of each chamber as well as individual scores for each sitting member.
