ACU Foundation Releases Latest Scores of New Hampshire General Court

Overall, the New Hampshire General Court moved left in the last year, but Republican members stood opposed to the left’s radical agenda. Senate Republicans voted for the conservative position 83% of the time (down six percentage points from the previous year) and House republicans voted for the conservative position 92% of the time (down two percentage points), according to data released by the American Conservative Union Foundation.

The American Conservative Union Foundation conducts an annual, in-depth analysis to rate all 8,000 lawmakers in America, revealing their positions on a wide variety of issues directly affecting our communities and families.

Governor Christopher Sununu vetoed scores of leftist schemes, saving the Granite State from partisan control of elections, higher taxes, and weakened property rights.

“Thank God for Governor Sununu and the conservatives of the New Hampshire General Court,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “They stopped Democrats from ramming through a series of partisan election bills and thwarted their many attempts to violate property rights and drive up tax burdens. As a result, the voters of New Hampshire rewarded Republicans with majorities in 2020.”

ACUF will present awards to 128 NH state lawmakers. The top ten members last year were Representative John A. Burt, Representative James F. Horgan, Representative Mark Worden, Representative Michael J. Sylvia, Representative James Spillance, Representative Tony Lekas, Representative Linda R. Gould, Representative Alicia D. Lekas, Representative Glenn Cordelli, Representative Charles R. Melvin — who all scored a perfect 100 percent on ACUF’s scorecard.

“Thank God for Governor Sununu and the conservatives of the New Hampshire General Court,”said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “They stopped Democrats from ramming through a series of partisan election bills and thwarted their many attempts to violate property rights and drive up tax burdens. As a result, the voters of New Hampshire rewarded Republicans with majorities in 2020.”

ACUF’s Ratings of Congress and Ratings of the States are initiatives of ACUF’s Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA). These ratings are designed to reflect how over 8,000 elected officials across the nation view the role of government while illustrating the differences between chambers of the legislature and revealing lawmakers’ positions on a wide variety of issues that directly affect citizens.

ACU Foundation reviewed each piece of legislation voted on in both chambers of the legislature to produce average scores of each chamber as well as individual scores for each sitting member.
