New Analysis Reveals Iowa Lawmakers Voting More Conservative Awards to be Presented to Top Iowa Lawmakers at CPAC
ALEXANDRIA, VA (December 9, 2021)— Iowa’s Senate ranks among the most conservative legislative bodies in the country, according to a new voting record analysis from CPAC. This is due to the chamber’s strong efforts to safeguard election integrity, advance tax reform, and protect Iowa’s Second Amendment rights.

In total, 81 members of the Iowa legislature will be eligible to receive awards at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) taking place in Orlando, Florida from February 24-27, 2022 for voting with the conservative position on legislation more than 80% of the time.
The following scores represent how often legislative leadership votes with the conservative position:

Among the 65 roll call votes scored by the American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF) are the election integrity reforms (SF 413 and SF 568), the major tax reform package (SF 619), legislation meant to safeguard the Second Amendment (SJR 7 and HF 756), efforts to expand school choice (SF 159), and legislation banning “critical race theory” in schools (HF 802).
ACUF’s Ratings of Congress and Ratings of the States are initiatives of American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF)’s Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA). These ratings are designed to reflect how over 8,000 elected officials across the nation view the role of government while illustrating the differences between chambers of the legislature and revealing lawmakers’ positions across 186 policy areas that directly affect citizens.
