This bill reduces Alabama's grocery tax from 4% to 2% over the next couple of years. While CPAC would prefer to see stronger tax reductions, it still recognizes the importance of this legislation for Alabama and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 1, 2023 by a vote of 30-0 and the bill later became law.
