This bill is one of a series of bills subsidizing the Research and Promotion Boards for different crops. In this particular bill, the legislature awards $7,000,000 to the Rice Board for its development, research, and operational expenses. CPAC does not believe that taxpayer funds should be used to promote one crop over another and opposed this bill. The House passed the bill on January 18, 2023 by a vote of 95-1 and the bill later became law.
