This bill, under most circumstances, prohibits landlords from demanding that a person give them more than one month’s rent as part of their security deposit. CPAC opposes the government’s efforts to micromanage the relationship between landlords and tenants and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on September 13, 2023 by a vote of 50-18 and the bill later became law.
