This bill prohibits the state government from providing certain forms of information or assistance to federal authorities seeking knowledge about illegal immigrants. CPAC supports the enforcement of federal immigration laws, believes that the state should participate in upholding these laws, and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on May 30, 2023 by a vote of 54-18 but Governor Newsom vetoed the bill.
