AB 531
Indebting Taxpayers with Billions of Dollars in Bonds for Behavioral Healthcare Services.
2023 - California Assembly
Vote Description

This bill proposes a measure to voters that would authorize the creation of a $6,380,000,000 bond to pay for new behavioral healthcare beds and housing. Some estimates believe that the interest accrued on the bond alone will eventually cost the state more than $10,000,000,000. CPAC opposes measures that further indebt taxpayers to prop up welfare systems and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on September 14, 2023 by a vote of 66-8 and the bill later became law.
