ACA 1
Raising Taxes in Order to Force Taxpayers to Pay for Other People’s Housing.
2023 - California Assembly

Vote Description
This bill proposes a constitutional amendment that would allow municipalities to increase real property and sales and use taxes beyond the limits established by the California State Constitution. The municipality could then use these funds to assist people in making down payments on their homes and build affordable housing. CPAC opposes wanton tax increases, does not believe that the government should be involved in the housing market, and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed this bill on September 6, 2023 by a vote of 55-12 and the bill later became law.
