This bill requires the plugging and abandonment of an oil field that is adjacent to a state recreation area or state park. A violation of this statute carries a $10,000 a month penalty and would be a criminal offense. CPAC views this as a continuation of the Biden Administration’s war on oil and opposed this bill. The Assembly passed the bill on August 31, 2024 by a vote of 49-13 and the bill later became law.
