SB 1295
More Social Media Safeguards for Minors
2025 - Connecticut House of Representatives
Vote Description

This bill includes numerous proposals for social media safeguards. The most important of which will prohibit adults from sending unsolicited communication to minors. The bill contains other provisions which CPAC does not support, such as a requirement for social media platforms to have “safety centers” and “cyberbullying policies”. However, CPAC’s concerns about these “cyberbullying policies” are outweighed by the importance of preventing adults from sending unsolicited messages to minors, so CPAC supported this bill. The House passed the bill on June 4, 2025 by a vote of 127-15 and the bill later became law.
