This bill establishes a green job corps program, the likes of which will use public funding to develop certificate programs oriented toward promoting the green economy. The bill will also provide grants to students to help them receive these certificates. The provisions of the bill also make a special effort to ensure that individuals from “underrepresented” populations will be recruited into the program. CPAC opposes the government’s efforts to promote certain industries over others and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 5, 2023 by a vote of 34-1 and the bill later became law.
