SB 1147
Worsening Onerous Environmental Justice Laws.
2023 - Connecticut Senate
Vote Description

This bill strengthens requirements that force certain facilities applying for environmental permits in “environmental justice communities” to consider the cumulative health and environmental consequences that may be attendant to the construction of the facility. It also allows state agencies to deny permits based on these factors and expands public notice requirements for facility constructions. CPAC recognizes that these provisions will be incredibly onerous for businesses and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on June 2, 2023 by a vote of 34-2 and the bill later became law.
