This bill requires the Commissioner of Social Services to provide medical assistance to people such that they may receive bariatric surgeries and related medical services. CPAC believes that taxpayers should not be forced to pay for other people’s weight loss medical procedures and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on May 16, 2023 by a vote of 30-5 and the bill later became law.
