Vote Description

This bill improves laws dealing with technical violations of probation and requires probation officers to proceed with alternative sanctioning programs when offenders are eligible for them unless otherwise directed by the court. CPAC’s Nolan Center for Justice is a national leader in criminal justice reform and works to cut crime, reduce taxpayer costs, protect victims, define the proper scope of government, and safely reduce incarceration rates. CPAC supports measures that keep people who pose no risk to others out of jail and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on May 3, 2023 by a vote of 40-0 but the bill was vetoed by the Governor.
